Melo won the game for us in period 1 with great play. We couldve used Amare in unit 2 to pick up where Melo left off--think about how we can be with Stat at 4-5 with JR and novak in the corners to open the floor. I like the starting unit as is. Amare can still get is 28 minutes--we need him.

This is looking more and more like a no brainer. I don't care how much he is making.

You get the same effect if Stats sits with 4 minutes to go.

You'll have a completely fresh Amare ready to go as soon as Melo sits? Really?

I don't see the point???

You saying Stat siting for 6-8 mins real time can't play as good as Stat who sits for the whole first quarter???Or is Stat subing in with 6mins to go...... so is stat playing threw the break still "fresh" enough to play???

There is no point.

You ever play basketball at a fast pace? You're definitely freshest in the beginning. And 30 min of real time exercise definitely takes a little out of you. Regardless, what matters most is limiting the time that Melo, Chandler, and Amare are all on the floor together.

Yeah I've played Basket ball, my "freshness" was never an issue until the second half. I would say that I actually played better after a couple of minutes burning off that "freshness" and working in to a groove, with nice sweat.

So unless Stat is on the bench for the first 10-12 minutes of the game, how are you saving his freshness for the second quarter, verses letting him start and sitting half way threw the first quarter???

Anji @ 4/19/2012 12:23 PM
We will see over the last four games, I don't think last night is a case of why you bring stat off the bench. Melo dropped 18 points in 6-7 minutes, who's not to say that with Stat that he doesn't have a bigger quarter or the knicks other players don't chip in more with Stat out there too???

Stat is a pro basketball player and a star in the Nba when healthy, his condition after 15 minutes of play isn't a concern in my eyes. The possibility of him playing great as a starter with Melo is still a much better prospect than bring him off the bench to keep them apart for an extra couple of minutes. They have to play together sometime.

I think the reason taht some want stat to come off the bench at first is because melo has been doing so good at the 4 and our second unitl hasn't been as good
BigDaddyG @ 4/19/2012 1:35 PM
I'm happy that Melo is playing well, but I don't believe that he is a long-term solution at power forward. I think that will catch up with us in the playoffs when the pace slows down and teams get more physical. If you tell me that we should start Jeffries at power forward and bring STAT off the bench to bring better balance to the team, I could accept that a little better. But I would still be against that move. If the option is Jorts in the starting lineup over STAT, I will say you're straight bugging.
I can see STAT coming off the bench in the near future, but only if we have a legitimate option to replace him. I don't see that right now.
BRIGGS @ 4/21/2012 8:58 AM
Anyone want to agree now? This will be an MDA--Woodson will be too stubborn to change it and we will sck.

1 game. No one brought energy last night not even Chandler

Some people can't see the sky because of the stars.

"We will see over the last four games"

Some people don't know how to count either..............The prospect of stat getting right still holds a better out come for the team in the playoffs than protecting the team we are without him.

Neither Barkley nor anyone else said it was unimportant to get Amare right.
Anji @ 4/21/2012 12:19 PM
Ehh? I don't follow, who's accusing Barkely of saying anything was or wasn't important.

Qualifying it's level of importance wasn't my argument either, getting Stat right holds the most success for this team in the playoffs, much more than protecting the status quo. We will see if they can get there in three games now.

arkrud @ 4/21/2012 12:21 PM
Melo and shooters... this good.
Melo and Stat, or Lin, and of course Fields not going to work.
We need to trade Lin and Fields for more pure shooters an defenders...
...or we need Zen-master to come. He is the only NBA coach who can make any combination of 3 great players to work.

I don't get why you mentioned that then. I thought you were implying that he or someone disagreed. You seem to be equating "getting stat right" with "starting him" though.

Begone with your semantics.

How are you going to butt in to a simple response and parse a single word in separate post???

Just disagree and be on with your day good sir.

Sounds like you're about to challenge him to a duel.

Disagree with what? I don't know what you're saying other than that you want Stat to be right, and I agree with that.

Hey, look, STAT is starting!
