He made Ty shon Chandler look like a small human being. We dont have a big man that can check a player like that. Worst defensive effort back to back in years av almost 120 a game back to the drawing board.
A lot of young guys have been having big nights against Tyson. It is the norm rather than the exception. The Knicks need Camby healthy. Kurt is too good not to play more and help remedy Tyson's shortcomings.

Tiago Splitter destroyed him 2 it's getting very concerning we're not talking about Dwight Howard or Bynum here
if you look back at tyson chandler's career, he has never been a devastating rebounder, and now with the knicks going small it makes it even worse on him... we do need amare back if anything it gives us more size on that front line..

you make good points. maybe its time to move melo back to the 3 and start sheed/kurt for a while. I mean melo has been taking a beating so we have to be careful he doesnt get hurt

Amare is the worst rebounder and defender out of all of our big man. Getting him back will not improve our interior D nor rebounding.

Granted but At least Amare blocks shots when guys get beat

yea, not sure why camby is not in rotation, but you could go KT and sheed at the PF spot... can they handle the minutes all season? who knows, but at this point we just can't continued to get mauled down low... what will happen is that you will find yourself in games you might lose vs teams you shouldn't lose to, but because of size issues you fall on the short end of the stick...

Its a valid point. However, we are getting murdered on the boards night in and night out. With the limited amount of possessions that our style implies improving our rebounding would have an incredible impact on our game. That's our biggest weakness right now, imho

lack of reboundind and lack of "last years tyson" is becoming a big problem

listen, it is about size... amare has length and if anything he can guard pf's, and he will help on the boards, let not act as if amare is not rebounding at all, we can use his 8 boards a game at the PF spot, and we know carmelo will get 6-7 at the sf spot.. it does help, no matter how you look at it... the problems we will have is on the offensive side with carmelo and amare, but that is another issue..
To be fair, Asik is a very good player. He has been rebounding at a ridiculous rate all year. The guy is a clear favorite for most improved player.

knicks need to get back to more pick and roll to get close to last years tyson back.. everything about this team is just so perimeter and iso... that means long rebounds and when guys iso lack of movement so tyson is really not in great position a lot of time...

well that too, he is one of the top rebounders in the league... he is a load on the boards..

The way I look at it is Amare's game is such that its doesnt adress our glaring issues. Defending PF ? We have plenty of size on this team with better defense and rebounding. Amare will not help in those departments

Agree about Amare's size if nothing else helping on the boards. I've said it before and will maintain that the problems on the offensive end are not Melo and Amare but its Chandler and Amare as they get in each others way. Its fixable but some reason, MDA ran the exclusive PNR with Chandler instead of Amare. Amare hung out around the key for a kick out from the pg if he couldn't get it to Chandler rolling. Amare made a name for himself in the league as a PNR players. Hopefully, Woody puts him that position a little more this year. Also, Stat and Melo played well together after Woody took over.....

we have size, but it is old size, lacks athleticism... a lot of teams are pushing the ball on us and getting up court.. amare can run... camby and crew no longer can... if you think amare won't help and playing carmelo at PG is going to get better...then have at it.. but right now camby is not playing and kt and sheed are not long minute fixtures.. we need amare..

When Amare comes back he will play. If you think our d gets better with him in the game I disagree. I don't think I have ever seen him rotate properly on d, but that might change this year, same for his one on one D. While having bigger guys should improve rebounding by default, I'll give you that, however his presence on the D end looks like its going to be detrimental overall.

I didn't think we were talking about defense here.. we were talking about how we are getting mauled on the boards by bigger teams..and how amare should at least help in that area, not that he is a cure all here, but he should help..
