After ten years of having any enthusiasm for this team result in total dismay and depression Ive learned to curb my enthusiasm and just call what I see.
My opinion is the same. 50 win team, too old and too predictable to compete for a title, but might make it out of the first round. Until I see differently I will let you know. I enjoyed the game last night. Very spirited.
I save my enthusiasm for the NY Giants. The Knicks have earned somber.
What was your wins prediction under Dantoni, Gallo, Wilson, and Mosgov?
Mid 30s or high 30s? Because 50 under Melo and Woodson sounds pretty good.
That team also had Amare and I dont remember, but I believe I said 45-48 wins. Considering they were 21-9 over a 30 game stretch after that bad, had beaten Spurs, OKC, Melo's Nuggets, Bulls twice, DAllas and were playing like .560 ball I was pretty much right on with that one. Of course that team was nothing compared to this one

Those wins were nice, sure. But they were just regular season wins. Did you honestly think they would've beat a top tier team in the playoffs with that young (and apparently not that good) and inexperienced roster?
If you were to ask me if this current team can hang with anyone in the playoffs, I'd say yes.

Now you kinda know where we are. Knicks are really good. Does this team beat the Bulls when Rose comes back? The Heat? Even the Nets? I made a thread acknowledging the great amount of talent on this roster, but its damn old. What happens when Kidd has back spasms in round vs the Bucks or god forbid the Bulls?
We were building something, and the results were very impressive early on. MDA finally got a PG the results were there. It was a good young team. Now its a good old team.

Those were our records during the Mike D'antoni era. 4 seasons is PLENTY of chances. What makes you think he even deserved to have players fit his style if he couldn't even get guys to play .500 basketball in 3 out of 4 seasons?
And based on these records, I wasn't too confident about any one of these 4 teams beating any playoff opponenet, when things only get tougher, especially for younger players.
Were those teams going to beat the Bulls with a healthy Rose? The Heat? Even the Nets?
No.

First of all let leave out MDA's 'teams' because he never had any. Unless of course you want to suggest that the reason the Knicks didnt win more featuring Duhon at PG with such legendary scorers to pass to like Al Harrington and my favorite David Lee was because of MDA's poor coaching. He had sh!t players the whole time he was here with a rotatiing roster. The one good roster he had the Knicks were playing very very well up until the trade.
secondly I never said THAT team was beating the Heat or even getting out of round one, but it was the 4th youngest team in the league, we had draft picks and we had about $15mm in cap space to spend in the offseason. We were building something good (in my eyes).
Now we are trying to put old players around a flawed star and hoping like hell it yields... what? A title? Im quite sure if we get into the 2nd round your gonna see another "all hair king James" thread. Is that was Knick fans want after ten losing years?
Unless you are in camp Melo, believe he's an MVP and an elite player ready to lead a team to a title. I havent seen anything in his career to believe he's that caliber player and I hope this year Im proved wrong. I really do...

in my eyes as well, lets not forget all of the draft picks we gave up in that trade as well.. I know people forget about those, even the second round pick, but they have value.. case in point, that kid that came in here from the rockets.. parsons, that kicked our rear ends... yea, he was a second round pick... it is about maximizing your assets, picks, players, cap space.. etc.. we have done a poor job of that and the trade just highlights that very fact...

His voice gets a little deeper as he runs through the details. There's pain there."I do remember those things," Nash says. "But I don't look back on them. That's life. You move on. We never got to the Finals, we never were a championship team.
Steve Nash on his teams never being good at all defensively:
"We also never played with a defensive center. We were a flawed team that got pretty dang close to our potential and maybe it was never quite good enough."He looks up at me to make sure that last part sinks in. It's not a line. It's his truth.
Mike D'Antoni admitting his whole time in New York was a mistake:
Enough time has passed now that D'Antoni can admit where he went wrong. It's not one of those plays he regrets, it's a decision. His decision to leave.
"I shouldn't have gone to New York," he says, looking down at the sideline in Memphis, pacing on that unstable right leg.
"I should have stuck in there and battled. You don't get to coach somebody like him [Nash] too many times. It's pretty sacred and you need to take care of it. I didn't."
D'Antoni has never told Nash this.
Well, hopefully this can dispel any myths about the Suns teams being anywhere close to a decent defensive team. No defense, no rings! And D'Antoni openly admitting he never should've left for New York, that his whole time here was a mistake...I don't know how any Knicks fan can defend that. Basically telling New York fans "Sorry bitches, came here for the money! Nothing more, nothing less".
Remember, don't kill the messenger. They said it!
this is just sad chuck..
first of all nash was saying they didn't have a defensive center.. where does it say he said they were not good at all defensively.. where?
And dantoni said he should have never left nash, that coming to Ny was a mistake considering what he left.... the suns changed management, he didn't mesh with steve kerr, he left...
this is very sad how you took these quotes and not only did you try to misrepresent them, but you misquoted when you clearly have the actually post right there... I mean, who are you trying to fool here?

We were building something, and the results were very impressive early on. MDA finally got a PG the results were there. It was a good young team. Now its a good old team.
32-50
29-53
42-40
18-24Those were our records during the Mike D'antoni era.
No.
32-50 roster flush
29-53 roster flush
42-40 28-26 + 14-14 with roster turnover
18-24 main player dogging it
his best chance for success was the 28-26 team which at that moment was 6th seed if memory serves.

Why in gods name would this guy deserve to have a team built around him? How is my logic with MElo different than yours with MDA? Please do answer....still waiting... just curious

Didn't the great Kevin Garnett get bounced out of the first round 7 years in a row before getting help?

There's not much Fishmike can say to his defense of D'antoni, so he tries to incorporate his excuses with Melo criticism.
Carmelo Anthony is the same player he was in Denver, but with only more help now. He's still the elite scorer and above average rebounder for his position.
Mike D'antoni isn't the coach we thought he was. Because he's shown that he can only come up short on a title with a sure fire hall of fame point guard.
Are you happy now?
