I believe Rubio got hurt a month or two before Shumps went down.
I think the knicks should target February as well for his return.

You're right. Rubio's injury happened near the beginning of March and Shumpert's happened during the playoffs in late April. Shumpert's injury was worse because he tore his meniscus as well while Rubio only tore his ACL. Also, Shumpert had two other knee injuries last season; he sprained the MCL in his right knee to start the year and he had patella tendinitis in his left knee, the one that's currently injured, in February. He also tore the meniscus in his right knee while in College.
Really, there's no reason to be rushing him back before he's healthy. The last thing we would want is to see him play before he's physically ready to and have him re-injure one or both of his knees and possibly ruin his career.
Thank Goodness For Context

VCoug - you are absolutely correct. The background you provide on Shump's history should be mandatory reading. The whole, "Shump should be back by..." thing is nothing but speculation based on emotion and interpreting sketchy medical information. The Knicks keep the doctors charts on lockdown.
Hopefully, Shumpert will listen to his body carefully and not get caught in a cycle of re-injury. No matter what time it is.
Back To The Future Past
Perfect example, Berman at the NYPost claims a "source" told him that Amar'e is returning around Christmas, instead of the "mid-December" projected date that some other source probably initiated.
How long does Amar'e require (without practice time) to round into game shape, reinvent himself to fit with a roster dominated with men he has never played with, and run where he can be a contributor and not a distraction?

I always hate it when fans, coaches, owners, etc. try to rush injured guys back before they're ready. Especially in basketball or baseball where the season is so long anyway that missing a role player for an extra couple of weeks or more isn't going to make or break the season. I'd rather have him healthy and ready for the playoffs as opposed to him possibly re-injuring himself in some meaningless February game against Washington.
Amare as a XMas present to the Knicks would be fitting. Especially as a scoring boost as 6th man to start.
Shumpert hopefully before or after the All Star break.
If Amare wants to be back by Christmas he needs to start practicing by the end of next week.
I also think it's weird we have gotten no up date out of Amare, no even one "phenomenal" and the bench thing coming out last week. Maybe the news on Amare isn't so great and he'll be out til late January-February.
Phenomenal

Anji - For the normally upbeat Amar'e to be this secretive is not a good sign. We miss his smile and his optimism. When he proclaimed, "the Knicks are back" it was like Paul Revere using his mobile phone to text the rest of the league. We believed him as well and jumped on board.
Now that Amar'e is quiet, it could be a sign of uncertainty. No more guarantees. No more promises. Just the long road of rehab for two knees with a lot of air miles and hard landings in turbulence. It would be cool if he sat on the bench. He has already mentioned accepting a reserve role.
Might as well learn what it feels like to sit during the games.
Head Coach Mike Woodson is 31-10 as Knicks head coach during the regular season.
Nothing to worry about I remember when Amare hurt his back last year he was quiet and didn't talk to the media and then he released a video talking about his return.

I didn't see much ball movement last night. well at least the portions I watched.. I saw a lot of three shot jacking, and a horrible played game by the bucks... that is an odd team.. two guards who are elusive but don't penetrate that much..... they do love bad shots..
keep in mind that there hasn't been much if any time for practice with the schedule played so far. With the homestand coming, Woody should be able to get the back to basics.
Has Woodson really figured out that his team needs two ball handlers (playmakers) on the court at all time. It brings a balance to the team , but does it also create a defensive liability in the backcourt ?
He must have the right front court defenders on the court to make it work or we display a matador defense.

not sure about any actual practice but, I saw a vid on KnicksXtra of Amare running and doing drills.
Here's what it says on his ESPN player profile:
Stoudemire (knee) is targeting Christmas as his return date, the New York Post reports.Spin: According to a source close to Stoudemire, mid-December is no longer a realistic date to expect him to return, as he still has yet to begin running after his Nov. 1 surgery.
I guess he can't run now but in 3 weeks will be able to play NBA level basketball. Sounds fishy.
Exactly

Mike Woodson is playing Chris Copeland for a reason. He is preparing the young man for the strong possibility that Amar'e will never play a brutal string of NBA games again.
He punched the fire extinguisher out of frustration with his body.

That doesn't sound good at all.
He won't be back by the 25th but damn Berman with his close sources
