If a superstar is available, you make the deal for it and make everything else fall in place.
It's worth it. A scrappy team of overachievers is cool and all, and they might rattle the cages a little, but this team just doesn't have the upside of a superstar team, which is the best thing when it's going good. Right now, it's going good.
That is why I'm so glad we got Tyson!
exactly... I still find the amount of shit I took for suggesting that I was more than okay with Timofey Mozgov being included in the trade quite humourous
I still think we would have been good without melo,

Funny time for you to make this statement, after one of the "role players" we traded for the superstar just led us to the win over the champs.

No. Without that trade we'd be precisely the kind of team Denver has right now. Slightly above average without any Championship hopes.

Yea they went for the superstar and let the pieces fall into place, which resulted in Felton coming back, that's exactly why you go for the superstar, without the Superstar Felton doesn't do that for us last night, even when Melo Anthony is on the bench with the finger
Exactamundo!
Nobody is dying to play with Timofey Mozgov...

It would depend entirely on what other moves we used our trade assets for and what we used with our space for another max contract player other than Melo.

No. Without Melo being traded to the Knicks he would be on precisely the kind of team he's always been on. Slightly above average without any Championship hopes.
Fixed
Melo didnt fix Knicks. Looking more and more like Knicks fixed Melo.
The morning after its all worth it!!!!
Funny. pumping the chest out on "the trade" the morning after we bet the champs on their floor WITHOut That superstar!
So we have perhaps our best game of the season without him?
And Im the one they think is "linsane"?

you really cant make this stuff up.

but, what about all the shyt guys gave Dolan for stepping in and adding Moz to the trade. Dolan got killed on this board and people continue to hate on his (to an extent rightfully so). If you going to take a dump on him when he fuks up, have enough integrity to give him props when he does well.
I for one never views him as the terrible owner most see him as. I always views him as desperate to win but, lacking enough knowledge about Basketball to know which moves he should and shouldn't make.
Dolan may struggle to get things right but, not for lack of wanting to win and his willingness to spend is a big bonus now that he has people running things who know what they are doing.
The trade should've been Melo for Gallo and Wilson. Denver just took advantage of the knicks history of bending over backwards in every trade and dismantled the knicks roster in a vindictive way. Leaving the Knicks with Ronny Turiaf at Center, old Billups gets hurt and TD is the PG. Leading to an embarrassing sweep to the old man Celtics. The days of Layden/Isiah are long gone now with Grunwald running the show as long as Dolan stays far far away

Someone uses a term I coined a while back "willing but stupid".
Does Walsh qualify or do we skip from Layden/Isiah an forget him?
Grunwald has been here all along as asssistant and in charge when Donnie was ill.
Grunny is part of the Evolution of the team and been here about 4-5 years. He is doing well, better yet, the team is succeeding so far.

Willing but Stupid....I like it and it does apply to Dolan. His past actions do seem foolish but, in retrospect, many of us agreed with them or, we were ok with them at the time. I don't remember much, if anyone really railing against Isiah when he was first brought it. Same thing with Steph. Yet, once it went sideways, Dolan was the one considered brain dead. Fans like to think they have a better plan but, as in this case, its always After the fact. We forget that we were totally with the move when it 1st went down.
The Marbury trade wasn't all that bad despite being forced to take on Penny's contract, another prime example of how other teams eyes light up when dealing with Dolan and the Knicks. Marbury was working well with KVH, Mutombo, Doleac, frank williams. Its the moves that followed the "younger more athletic" Timmy T, Nazr, Mo Taylor, Curry, pairing Marbury up with the then Crawful, Jeffries and Steve Francis, trading picks, drafting Frye over Bynum that buried Isiah and any chance of developing chemistry.

those things aren't Dolans fault. They were Isiah moves which mortgages the teams future. Dolan rarely interferes with his GM which, usually is a good thing. Isiah was a disaster in judging established talent. Dude could draft potential all day but, had a definite blind spot for established players. There were times I was sure he was judging them based on their performances against the Knicks. You light up New York and Isiah would willing trade for and overpay you.

LOL..Disappearing Gallo and Quiet Wilson do not equal Melo at all..quite the insult. No one would have done that trade. Neither one of those guys warrants a defensive plan or double team. That's a big overvalue of both players.
I'm glad everyone is really starting to realize it. It is scary that people did not want to trade Mozgov for Melo.
