Felton:32 min guard
JR Smith:32 min guard
Melo: 32 min Forward
TC: 32 min CenterSo that's 32 Guard mins out there, 64 forward mins out there and 16 center mins.
Amare 28
Kidd 20
Priggy 12
Shumps 20
Sheed 16
That leaves 16 mins for the tenth guy. I don't see who we play more than 10 a night when everybody is healthy.
Hmm, I see what you're saying. I'll probably have a better idea in the morning after I sleep on it.
We really can't afford to run Novak out there when his three isn't falling...Also, he has to be able to shoot over Nate Robinson... He got the ball in the corner and Nate ran out to him, he didn't shoot...Come on bro...He gives us nothing else and his defense is still suspect..31 mins 3 boards and no defense from a front line player...
Knicks would be better with Jordan Hill for Novack trade. Copeland is still as good a stretch 4 and you got a rebounding big body.
Ah, the old 'what have you done for me lately' syndrome. I see this season it seems popular for posters to attack former darlings Novak and Tyson for the crime of being a bit inconsistant. Forget about all that they did for us last season- throw them all under a bus at the first sign of struggling and pretend like they have never been any good... next season: "Copeland is a bum! Bench him!"

No, what's happening is opposing teams game film preparation has caught up with our one dimensional guy Steve Novak.

I don't think that's fair, I didn't throw Steve under the bus because of a bad game. I am just asking a question of can we get better while threw trades while getting approximately what Novack gives us from Copeland.
I think so.

I think Cope, much as I like him, is a bit of an illusion at this point- he hasn't played enough to give opposing teams much of a scouting report to work on. Once they start paying more attention to him, he may have his effectiveness reduced just like Novak. However,I think even if Novak isn't hitting his shots he's valuable due to the amount of attention teams have to give him to prevent him from getting his shot off- any opposing player committed to defending him, is one less defender the rest of our team has to deal with.

How can you make the comparison, Novak can't drive and beat his man off the dribble, Copeland can.
The scouting report is stay up into Novak, the scouting report on Copeland is he can shoot from down town , but can also take it to the basket when necessary. Who's harder to defend ?
31 minutes of nothingness ...0 points, zero defense, and 1 foul that resulted in a three point play..
Im sorry i like Novak but he is not the same player as last year. yes teams are defending him but even when he is open he misses the shots he used to make. Besides the bucks and heat games novaks has been MIA. Copeland cant score both inside and outside. he also has great chemistry with prigs on the PnR

He was ill! He missed the last game, didn't practice- sheesh!

Ok..He can recoup on the bench..
Everyone has variability in their performance. Novak's bad games are low volume but not worse than most players. Something like 3 or 4 rbs, 2 assists, 1 for 6 shooting is probably not worse than 4 or 16 shooting even with a few more rbs or assists than Novak gives (basically a Felton/Smith sub-par game). Higher volume (more made and missed shots, more assists and more turnovers) does not necessarily mean better performance.

Novak is a poor defender at best...He averages 2 rebounds in 25 mins of play...His value is spacing and ability to knock down the open three...If he isn't shooting well or shooting at all, his presence hurts the team...We are essentially playing 4 on 5...Last night he had a shot in the corner and Nate Robinson ran out on him...He didn't shoot...Does he really have to be absolutely wide open to take and hit a shot???..He can't shoot over Nate???
I tolerate Felton's bad shooting nights because he defends and gets into the lane and creates easy looks for Chandler, Kidd and Brewer...Felton was bad all around last night by the way...Smith defends, rebounds(10 lat night), steals when his shot is off...Novak gives you nothing else....nothing...31 mins 3 rebs, 0 pts, 1 foul..Nothing..

Not true, it seems he's usually on the floor whenever we make a run. when he's having an off game he doesn't hurt us as teams still zero in on him- he contribute more than his numbers, kind of like Jared Jeffries did.

HUH???...how does he contribute like Jeffries..He plays no defense..ZERO...2 rebounds in 25 mins....How????...I saw two instances last night where he was standing under the basket a let two guys just go in for lay ups...Not even an attempt at a foul...He gives us nothing...
We all like Novak, he's a likeable guy, but after he got the money maybe mentally he lost his confidence.
On the Mike Woodson showthere was an episode where he called Novak into the coach's film room and told Novak "I expect you to score every game that you play in".
This is Novak. When he reels off 7 straight 3's people will be praising him again like they did after he finally got hot after the slow start. He is the least of our problems along with Sheed's old ass.
Real problems are:
Felton
Brewer
Amare's health
Melo at the 4

How is Felton a problem???...Poor shot selection??..He get open looks to Chandler, JKidd and Brewer. no??...Good defense...Don't be blinded by one aspect of his game...look at the whole game...Felton getting into the lane is the key to our offense...When he doesn't get into the lane like last night, U see how our team looks??
There are probably at least 15 or 20 PGs in the league who could do what Felton does and shoot a higher percentage. With Chandler you just have to be able to drive and throw the ball anywhere within a 2 or 3 foot radius and Chandler will put it in. It helps when you have several guys hitting 40% of their 3s also. We have Felton because we didn't have the money available to get a better PG. He's not awful by any means. Clearly guys like Bibby, Douglas, and and Davis couldn't do last year what Felton does but he doesn't have any admirable unique abilities either.
