Knicks · What are your expectations for the Knicks this season from what we have seen thus far. (page 1)

earthmansurfer @ 1/28/2013 1:51 PM
It is hard to say as it depends on what team shows up. A win like last nights against Atlanta where you win and the opponent shoot 60% does not give me hope.
We have the talent but they got to play hard defense like earlier in the year. I don't know if Stat is good enough to play that kind of defense, no offense to him. Melo can, JR can, Tyson can.
Shump so far is not there, hopefully he is there by years end, but it takes time with ACL tears.

I'd say we are looking like a good 2nd round performance exit lately. For us to get to the title game we have to play GREAT DEFENSE. Can we? That is the question.

if the defense can play like they did in november and we remain healthy i think we can make the finals. Many nba analysts make excuses for the heat saying that they are not really trying right now but the knicks match up well against them IMO IF they play like they did in november. Unfortunetly we have been very inconsistent since mid December. So if we can start playing well again i see no reason why we cant contend

well, what is it going to take to get back to playing the way we were? i think it's all about leadership. unfortunately i am not convinced that woodson has it in him to get this team to play at its best. also, if the ideal is that your best players are also the team's leaders, the knicks fall short in this category as well.

Start of the season: Potential ECF appearance

Last 20 games: Potential 2nd round appearance, if that

I agree. Also, the transition to having Shump and Amare back is going well. The Knicks really need Felton to not reinjure his pinky.

ecf 6+ games -- better would be nice -- that is making the finals.

I like our chances against Miami in the finals but, I don't think we can get past The Thunder if they make it.

ECF strong performance assuming the 3 headed PG monster holds up.
dk7th @ 1/29/2013 3:37 PM
i ask myself what does it mean when there is a fairly even distribution along all the entire spectrum of expectations?

my initial response is the obvious one that there is no consensus and there is no consensus because it is not really clear how good or bad this team actually is.

Anji @ 1/29/2013 3:44 PM
Horseshit, 13 votes for ECF or better and 3 for Second round or less is an clear consensus???

Yeah, but using the same logic some fold take to our record, if you take away the first 4 votes, then we're 6-6 since the poll began...

So u go from a guy who expected the Knicks to be in the 3 seed, if our are an optimist, which clearly you weren't, to the 7th seed, which I think more accurately describes your thinking...To now expecting the Knicks to reach the ECF or be a disappointment?????

What??? 13 people voted ECF or better.

Edit* read the poll upside down, still 2-1 expect to be in the final 4.

It threw me off too. The title for each vote in on the bottom.

there is no clear consensus if 10 vote ECF or better and 6 vote less than that.

i understand the formatting is a little visually confusing but maybe it's too early to conclude anything until more people vote.

what are your expectations by the way?

what i said was that the knicks HAD TO maintain a second seeding if they hoped to make the ECF. third seed won't get it done as history has shown the odds are against it.

as to optimism they sure looked like a 2nd seed to me the first 6 games of the season. since then, around the time not of the grizzlies loss but the rockets loss, this team has regressed.

i don't know where you got the notion i thought they were a 7th seed either-- unless you are referring to the fact that right now only a couple of games separates us from the 6th seed-- not the seventh. i did say that but that doesn't more accurately describe my thinking come on now.

so my expectations are the same-- if they looked that good the first 6 or 7 games they should be able to get that back. to me it boils down to coaching leadership and player leadership.

SupremeCommander @ 1/29/2013 4:14 PM
I'm surprised that "be a statistically inferior team" wasn't a polling option

but I voted ECF with strong showing
