I don't know why I'm trying to do Woodson's job. Anyone with 2 eyes can see the starting lineup needs a shake up. I've been saying it for 3months now!
Bench Tyson? Seriously? I still think that he is more valuable than Amare but I do agree that they don't play well together.
use Novak for what he is. Play him with Melo/Amare/Felton and he will get plenty of uncontested looks. He is missing those right now but getting those looks consistently might get him going at last years pace
No need for Jared Dudley and JJ Reddick
Make the most out of Novak. Your lone shooter
not kidd
not white
not copeland
im ok with Amare off the bench..need to save his minutes. i want kurt or kmart to start at PF...move melo to 3 and shump to SG...to me its about who finishes not who starts. I still cringe when i think of amares lack of def in the clutch
Amare can start just limit his mins to 25-30. Play Tyson, amare in melo in the forth. We wont lose big leads to start the 3rd quarter thatvwe lose now with melo being forced to go 1 on 5 with Flight starting.. Lets go back to blowing teams out not nail biters vs the wizards of the world
The lineup didn't need a shake up in the front court.
Tyson defends while Amare does not. If Amare played defense we would have traded Chandler.
Wake me up when Amare grabs 30 rebounds in a game

In comparison to Tyson? Is that what you are doing?
Amare can't do what Tyson does. The only thing he does is give us some more volume scoring, which we don't need anyway. I'm fine with him getting minutes off the bench or replacing Shumpert in the starting lineup but not replacing either of our all-stars.

While I don't agree with replacing Tyson in the starting lineup with Amare, Tyson really does clog things up on (our) offense.
We are awful defensively even with Tyson who has taken a giant leap backwards this year defensively.
Why not rest Tyson for the playoffs so we don't get flu tyson and ride Amare until the playoffs like secretariat ... he probably won't show up again for the playoffs anyway.
Rest prevents flu? Tyson's career playoff record speaks for itself.
Per 36 minutes, Amare is averaging 13.2 points and 4.7 rbs. Tyson is averaging 11.3 points and 11.3 rbs.
You play Amare at center and we have the games' worst rebounding PF and worst rebounding C in the starting lineup.

Wow, I'm surprised since Amare's advanced stats are really good. He's 2nd on the team in TS%, 3rd in eFG%, and 2nd in WS/48. In fact, he's putting up his best WS/48 in 5 years. And, for the most part, he's never been a volume scorer; except for his first 2 years in NY he's always been very efficient.
Obviously, he shouldn't be starting over Tyson but there's an argument that he should be starting/playing more while cutting back the minutes of our mostly useless backcourt.

Thats the point. Tyson can help us more in the playoffs and Amare will probably be useless. Rest prevents many things and hopefully the flu/virus/whatever.
And btw, not sure where you got your numbers from. Tyson in the playoffs per 36:
8.6 pts (pretty bad)
10.2 rebs (ok)
0.7 assists vs 1.4 turnovers (bad!)
lets not go gaga over those numbers because they ain't that great.

Err, you made a mistake there. Those are their per game averages no per 36. Per 36 Amare is putting up 21.5 points and 7.4 rebounds and Tyson is at 12.2 points and rebounds.
They play well enough together to play all 3 but if Woody is so scared of losing Amare to injury start Novak with Tyson, Shump, Melo, and Felton.

Amare is a volume scorer now? At 55% for his career? Our most efficient offensive player. As opposed to JR??

I was citing this year's #s.

you can't swap out Stat for JR. They are diff positions. Will amare play guard?
I think that the only excuse woody has for relying on him is how well he matches up with they insani-switching.

Exactly.
Amare in 36mins averages 25+
Tyson in 36mins is lucky to put up 10pts on 5 dunks

My bad. That is better. I'd happily put Amare in for Shumpert in the post-season.
