Dwight Howard at his worse is better than Chandler at his best. Dwight Howard is not some locker room cancer.

You are correct...he's not a locker room cancer. He's an on the court cancer! And a locker room clown. Chandler is the type of leader Howard wish he could be.

You can't compare stats with them. Chandler worth to the team is more than just stats.

I would take Howard if they were making equal money. Otherwise, it's not worth it. Dwight needs a perfect environment built around him. He wouldn't come to NY anyway. Houston, Brooklyn, LA

Dude is a fool and I've had my share of fools on the Knicks. Phuck Dwight.

Chandler is at one of the lowest points of his career and the voting is still 2 to 1 in his favor. I have renewed faith in this board!
Here's a good thread to remind the minority what a healthy Tyson brings:
Some comments: "Tyson's a stud...[He] fits in perfectly with a guy like Melo." (SupremeCommander)
"This guy has been a monster... Tyson saved us." (Briggs)

What had Chandler done throughout his career if you take away that 1 year with Dallas?

He helped a defensively inept team in Dallas get over the hump. Great for him.

What did he do for Chicago, New Orleans, or Charlotte?

He was good but not outstanding for those teams. He did not become outstanding until playing in Dallas. If the poll hand been posted 4 or more years ago, I would have picked Dwight. But obviously it was posted 4/29/13.

He wasn't outstanding. He was surrounded by shooters at every position.

He was so good Mark Cuban passed on resigning him.

Chandler was and never will be as good as Howard. Howard has put his team on his back since coming into the league. Plus he took his team to the NBA Finals. Now all of a sudden he is chopped liver.

LOL the D'Antoni effect.

total Knick homerism, and thats fine. Unless folks think Dwight is broken and his body wont be the same (like post-Pho Amare) then its Dwight and its not debatable. You cant build a team around Chandler. Dwight you put average NBA talent and your winning 50 games a year and going to the 2nd round every year.

Cmon folks. Dwight may be a tool but he comes back healthy he's the best big in the NBA since Shaq

I think Anubis said it, Dwight Howard at his worse (this past season) is better than Tyson at his best. Its never been a question about Howards ability, the question has recently been his mental make-up....Seems to be cracking under the recent scrutiny and pressure....If he can get his act together, and land in the right situation, Howard by far....
MS @ 4/29/2013 4:08 PM
Bottom line this team is fucked without Kenyon Martin. The guy stopped a huge tailspin when we were ready to fold, much like Lin did last year. And then Melo went off down the stretch the same way he did last year.

This situation will obviously never happen, but if you had the chance to do a deal straight up no one in their right mind would take Chandler over Dwight.

He probably ends up with the Rockets anyway, absolute best place for him with all those shooters and a superstar.

Travla @ 4/29/2013 4:14 PM
Please..... no contest. Dwight Howard, especially under Woodson. The one thing I dislike about Chandler is his lack of offense. An un-motivated Dwight can still give you 15/8 and some blocks, with normal motivation, he can do 25/15. He acted up in Orlando because they were not doing anything to move toward being serious. He's having difficulties in L.A. because of Kobe (nothing unheard of) and azzhole D'Antoni.

That seems off-topic. If Dwight was on the Knicks, injured, and playing at 50% effectiveness, we'd be dependent on Kenyon anyway.

If Dwight is that good, why did the Lakers suck? Thats the best talent Dwight will ever play with in his entire career. If he's that good, the Lakers wouldn't be such a laughing stock. And this was before Kobe's injury. Dwight clearly showed how overrated he is.

Dwight has plenty of physical advantages over every big man in the league. But don't under estimate the impact of leadership. Dwight has none....

Ive never been much of a Dwight fan, and this is from his Magic days. He always seemed immature and not a winning player you build your team around.

You can't escape how talented and powerful he is as an individual player, though.

I love Tyson as the champion and warrior that he is, but his disappearing acts have really turned me off.

Since we will probably do nothing in terms of getting Howard or not, Im fine with Tyson as my center for years to come, but if I could make a fair deal for Howard, I would. Why?

It doesn't have to work this way, but I believe that at some point Dwight will mature and buy into the culture of a winning basketball team. The Lakers weren't even close to that, unfortunately for him. But Im confident that on a tea like us, where Woody has done a marvelous job assigning roles and responsibilities, Dwight would do great.

Howard is too good of an offensive and defensive presence not to consider, especially with Melo and J.R. on your team providing perimeter attack.

But Im not expecting us to be involved in any Dwight Howard drama, so Immore than happy with Tyson, as long as he can go back to being close to DPOY Chandler.

To be fair, the Lakers were horribly put together simply thinking on the names. It was kinda like a supersized Isiah Thomas team that has the names but no clear way to be brought together as a team. This should teach people having All-Star teams isn't guarantee for a winning team if they dont have chemistry and a good coach with a gameplan.

Dwight IS overrated as a superstar because he hasn't delivered andhas had more drama than wins, but he is a supremely talented and powerful player who can potentially get his act together and be a huge piece of a championship team.

Howard is 10x better
knicks1248 @ 4/29/2013 6:29 PM
the problem with Howard is if you don't put a bunch of shooters around him, is about as avg as avg can get.

Please keep in mind that most of the league plays small ball..

I would pay Tyson because Howard does nothing for the team in the locker room, and I just have no patience for players who can't shoot at least 70% from the FT line, or close to it..

That's why Howard intentionally getting himself ejected when they needed him to show an ounce of leadership was all I needed to see. Well, that in addition to mocking Kobe for trying to rally the troops, using the late Jerry buss as a punchline, and then turning around and bailing on his teammates when they needed him most. No thank you.

+1

And post-herniation Dwight is a ticking time bomb. What will do him in first, the back or the shoulder?

Well, it's not as if Tyson doesn't have injury concerns of his own. He's been dealing with a bulging disc in his neck for awhile now and hasn't looked good at all for weeks.
