Didn't the clippers fire Delnegro. Didn't Atlanta fire Woody after 53 wins. It's been done before I think Woodson is an excellent regular season coach but playoffs are very tough for him because the offensive style he runs is not conducive for the playoffs.

Woodson got fired in ATL because he took them as far as he could. Larry Drew did not much better.
Its possible Woodson is a not a championship coach, but I don't think this is a championship caliber roster.

I think you can give Woodson a championship roster but you know he is only going to do isolation plays. I think any offense that comes away from isolation is by accident.

He doesn't deserve another chance. He has shown over and over in Atlanta that he is slow and stubborn. We are now seeing the exact thing repeat itself. He can't or won't learn. I think we should just can him. He is hopeless. But there are people who would wear "second in the east" as a badge of honor. To me it's about as important as being voted MVP or becoming scoring champ.

Did you read my post before you decided to spin it? The problems I have with Woodson are roster independent, well established and have carried over from his time in Atlanta.
You can put up whatever excuse you want - we were badly coached and largely unprepared for the playoffs. Indiana was actually playing w/o their "Star" player.
Woodson was given exactly the type of team he wanted (never happened once for MDA). He had a so called superstar, a returning DPOY, vets with championship experience and JR smith who became 6th man of the year and a host of defensive minded players.
Indiana had 5 good starters no stars and zero championship experience. They played TEAM basketball and they handed out @$$ to us.

There just aren't better coaches readily available. And please before you say Phil Jackson's name please understand that we've been trying to get him for 20 yrs- guy has no interest.
Woodson turned a barely above .500 team to a 54 win team and a no.2 seed. I'm not gonna be embarassed by losing to Indiana. They have taken Miami to 7. I think with a few more bounces we still could've beaten Indy- and we certainly could've done better if we shot the ball just a little closer to where we shot it during the season.
I wasn't pleased with some of the moves Woodson made during the playoffs, the lack of adjustments being one of them. But there were too many things out of his control to hold the second round exit against him to the point where he should be fired.
The fact that Indy is taking the defending champs to a game seven also shows that we need to make some moves to give Woodson a more competitive and healthier squad. He still has one more season on his contract, and considering the great success he had in the regular season, success we haven't seen in many years, its only fair that mgmt gives him one more year to prove he can get past the second round.
Besides the only coach I can remember being demoted and later becoming an assistant to the coach who replaced him was Kurt Rambis and Phil Jackson.
Bring in a new unproven coach named Jason Kidd and demote Woodson down to assistant. There, I said it.
i think vmart has the right idea.. i would love to give brian shaw the job. i know wherever he wants to go, he want institute the triangle. i think carmelo would thrive in it and more importantly, he and amear could be on the court at the same time in the triangle.
Knicks basically were working with FluTyson and what ever was left of JR Smith's 6th man of the year party and subsequent IQ loss.

I thought I answered that before. In terms of health Indy was without their best player the entire season we had all our starters.
In terms of skill and experience I think it was about equal but slight edge to the Knicks.
Biggest thing in favor of the Pacers was that their center can dunk and their coach actually calls plays to capitalize on it.

Hibbert has a hook shot, outstanding ability to catch in heavy traffic, excellent footwork and can finish with either hand. Their coach has absolutely nothing to do with his skill set. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zee-row.

Hibbert's ability to dunk is icing on the cake. His dominance inside gives Indiana a huge advantage on both ends.
Demote? Heck no. I demand a ritual sacrifice. Nothing less than a firing, preferably with maximal humiliation will do. However, I expect this to occur midway through the season when it can cause maximal disruption and result in a 25 win season.
