You know what we could of done with those 3 picks next year with Amares expiring contract. Im speechless really how did they get bent over so bad to add a 3rd pick. Its unbelievable they were going to amnesty him. We should of told them u take 1 pick or we walk away.
I care about salary because we cared about salary when it came to Lin and a year later we take on more salary after being a Tax Paying team?...Just goes to show how personal it was with Lin.
Oh and Bargs has a trade kicker, so we'll be paying $11.3mil not $11mil. This trade gets worse by the millisecond. So what 11.3 or 11 im not paying his contract I could care less. No matter what we are over the apron. The money is actually a benefit for the Knicks because they clear Novak on the 2015-16 year. The problem is giving up draft picks. I think we could of dealt Amare possibly at the deadline with those picks for a much much better player or at least over the 2014-15 summer. The Knicks still arent better then Brooklyn,Indian,Chicago,Miami and we pissed away 3 more assets
There really is no financial benefit when you're paying butt loads in extra Tax Dollars and Bargs contract is $7.5mil richer in value than what we gave up assuming Raps buyout Camby in his last year. We're going to get crushed with the repeater rates. Novak's 2015-2016 salary is inconsequential.
Again what do u care if he is paying repeater rates and Tax dollars Im glad he is because he is ruining the franchise maybe he will sell it. Novaks deal is not inconsequential at all thats 4 million more dollars we can spend on a better player then Novak. There are plenty of players making 4 million that are 10 times better then Novak
It's inconsequential in an expiring yr when there is no other money on the books. He could be deal at draft time that yr gimmie a break. $3.75mil is not a lot salary for 1 season.agree, not seeing 4 mill as a big deal when possibly 70+ mill comes off that year. what about feltons PO for that year (think its a player option)? does he need to go to save 2015 $?
Your acting like Novak is worth the money he isnt so get rid of him.No reason to have him on the books for another year. That 4 million is the difference between 3 max deals
Bargnani is 7 feet tall.
Chandler????
Bargnani
Melo
Shump
Felton
Not bad.

Yes and if his deal was longer then 2 years no way Id want him but with all are money locked into those 2 years it doesnt matter see how that works right

Will fit well and create space for Melo amare chandler.. Whoever. I think this was good value with great upside. We gave away guys who didn't help us at all for a guy who can help this team to a next level. Also.... There is this
I agree. We werent getting anything from Novak or Camby. Plus this frees up a roster spot.

im not talking about his value, since the knicks made the choice to sign him to that contract. its the reaction that getting his contract off is good, which to me isnt that big of a deal in comparison to all the other bad contracts that still exist for ny. when 2015 rolls around, things may be better or worse and the ~4mill might be needed or it wont make any diff.

Because any advanced stats (and the eye test) will tell you that Gallo is a much better player than Barg. Sorry, nothing to cheer about. That guy has always sucked and the NY media will eat him alive.

Start naming the 3 players we hand out Max Contracts to that season and then how we fill up the other 9 roster spots. That may have been the most ridiculous reply I've seen yet on this board.
Novak's salary in 2015-2016 is inconsequential....absolute fact when looking at this crap deal.

Because that's the furthest thing from the truth.
Lol at you supporting the trading of 1st rounders. I guess Isiah didn't teach you the value of 1st rounders, did he?
One guy is 6'10" guy who shoots a lot of threes while the other is a 7'0" guy who shoots a lot of threes and always seems to get the better of the 6'10" guy when they play head to head: http://www.basketball-reference.com/play... Injuries aside, I thinks Bargs is tougher offensive matchup than the Rooster.

If we look at Gallinari's RAPM over this year in comparison with other players in the league, Gallinari ranks a +1.7 offensively and a -1.5 defensively for a total of 3.2 (courtesy of http://stats-for-the-nba.appspot.com/). That ranks 29th in the entire NBA!

Even if its not 3 max salaries wouldnt u rather have 4 million to spend on a different player then Novak? If u dont the like the deal I have no problem but your reasoning being tax payments. I dont get why u care about how much the Knicks are spending on luxury tax dollars. Your upset that Bargs has a trade kicker and is making 11.3 instead of 11 so what.It doesnt change what the Knick flexibility is. However Novak being off the books does help. Even if u think 4 million isnt worth it that could bring back a good player. U realize Teams trade away picks to get teams to take 4 million dollar contracts right. We traded a lottery pick and a 1st rounder to get rid of Jeffries and we had 30 million in cap space already

Mine. That was how I found about this. That's from former uk great djsunyc or some such faggy handle
Bargnani > Novak
Camby didnt play all season.
But really the kool aid kicked in when i saw how upset djsu was- i know he watched bargs more than i've seen my own face and for him to be upset makes me think we had a small sensible improvement - which i think is the key to the knicks improving - not a radical trade tyson type move.
We basically got a better Danilo Gallinari back...
