NBA teams have been notified that Drew Gooden has cleared amnesty waivers and is now a free agent
He's one of those players who it feels like has been playing for decades. Weird thing is I remember him on the magic, and I remember them trading him to the Cavs when everyone felt sorry for their gm because he let Boozer out of his contract thinking he was going to re-sign. But I have no recollection of him playing for Chicago, the Spurs, the Mavs or the Clips. Does he just post empty stats?

The book on him is that he's a black hole whose defense kinda limits him as starter. If you bring Drew off the bench to score and rebound, then he'll fill the role. If you bring him in as frontcourt starter, then you'll be disappointed.

Ah, thanks- doesn't sound like we need him on this team.
Shawne Williams has just been given a training camp invite with the Lakers (reunited with D'Antoni), which is kind of a shame. We're thin in at C,PF, but also at SF (if we play Melo at the PF)- anything happens to MWP, and we're back to playing SG's at the 3 spot. Shawne Williams can play SF and PF (and he played C), is tough and can shoot the 3. Would have been a good fit, but I guess we weren't impressed with his workout.

No update yet on Bobby Brown. Should know more today. #Knicks
Missed this yesterday.
Ian Begley @IanBegley
While the #Knicks have looked at FA options at PG, they remain highly impressed w/Toure Murry & are in contract discussions w/him for 13-14.

FC Barcelona made official the signing of Kostas Papanikolaou for the next three years plus a fourth year optional. http://po.st/nhXuWg
Not sure if there is a chance for him to bought out down the road but it does make trading this second round pick a little easier to stomach.
Byron Mullens will join the Clippers on a two-year, $2 million contract, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The deal should be official early next week and it includes a second-year player option. He gives L.A. affordable frontcourt depth, but his limited rebounds and blocks make him an unlikely source of fantasy value -- he did make 1.2 threes per game last year, but overall he shot just 38.5 percent from the field.
Still no takers for Nate- thought he'd get a mini MLE contract at the least before the offseason began. It's strange, I used to like him a lot when he was first with us, soured on him when he left and got more annoyed with him when he was gloating in that game against us. However, his performance in the playoffs in that game vs the Nets was amazing- one of my favorite playoff performances in a while.
Do I want him back on the team? Nope! Think he'd be a terrible match with JR, and would incur Woodies wrath. Still I wonder where he'll end up.

Same salary-cap crunch that made Mavs waive Bernard James, I'm told, likewise forcing Dallas to waive summer league top scorer Josh Akognon
surprised that Miami hasn't used their mMLE. I wonder if they would bring in Nate and start restricting Wade's minutes.

The Heat probably only have to use a portion on Nate, not the entire thing, maybe even save some of it for Justin Hamilton/Ennis or Greg Oden too
There is less tax in Florida and Texas as well, most of all for the ability to win a ring
They amnestied Mike Miller to save money, probably because they want to develop Ennis who looks like a steal in the draft

Josh Akognon and Goudelock have been tearing up the Summer League too, although it is just a Summer League where the level of competition is much different than the NBA
Forget his name as a Knick, but Dantoni's 3pt "EDDIE HOUSE like CHUCKER" that was signed to a 2 year deal, I think it was with the BAE of 2m per year
Can't believe no one has made a run at Cole Aldrich. Not sure if he would sign for the league minimum but the Knicks need to offer it to him with a two year deal so they can get his early bird rights. He is a lot better then the guys Sac is looking at to replace him.
The Mavericks and Grizzlies are in "advanced discussions" about a trade that would send Nick Calathes to Memphis for future draft picks, according to ESPN.com.
Calathes played for PBC Lokomotiv-Kuban in Russia last season, where he posted 12.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. His 6'6" frame gives him great size for a PG, but Dallas seems ready to part with him now that Jose Calderon and Gal Mekel are under contract.
How many PG's did Dallas simply gain in one year that are better than all of our PG's?
4 and one to spare
I wanted Calathes in NY. He supposedly improve d his Dalthough his numbers from 3 and the ft have not looked great.

Wade getting "replaced" in any way, shape or form by....Nate? That might be an ego problem for sure. Can you imagine that exchange at the scorer's table? Ugly.

As @SpearsNBAYahoo noted, talks w/ new Denver coach Brian Shaw played a big part. Robinson averaged 13.1 pts & 4.4 asts for Bulls last year
Nice pick up for them if it goes through. Nate can keep the pace going when Lawson goes to the bench.

For the bi annual- TKF, 3G4G and co will be delighted- they love Nate-type players!
Seriously, does anyone know what Denver's plan is this offseason?
o sorry...i 4got about this thread...i posted on the gen board! we couldve had nate for cheap...that bothers me
Now THIS bothers me. My assumption was that the knicks wouldnt be able to afford nate. he averaged 13.1ppg and 4.4 asts and carried the bulls in the playoffs (when he outplayed deron). i thought with that resume, he'd earn at least 3-5mill. Instead, the market dried up and teams didnt have much to offer. Instead of going after Nate, we over pay Prigoni at 1.7mill for 2 yrs and then start looking at Bobby Brown, Telfair, Brooks and other PGs. They may be good but Nate is a definite PROVEN commodity.
Are you telling me that Prigoni should be worth more than Nate?!?!?!??! Moves like this drive me nuts!!
