2 yrs at 2.5 million is a good deal if he accepts. That leaves the Knicks around 2 million left in the mmle to use.
Hopefully for cope. It seems like most of the teams chasing cope would have to offer their mmle to get him. I read somewhere that a friend of his said cope is uncomfortable signing with the pacers because the Knicks just played them in the playoffs. Maybe he signs for one year so the Knicks can get his early bird rights. Smiths situation might help.

Yeah but that is a big gamble for Cope then again the Knicks seems like they go out of their way to do right by players who do right by them.

Via Chris Broussard/ESPN
If he's going to sign with another team,
I'd rather he head out West than to the Nets.
Why has Broussard soured on San Antonio?

You can never have enough big men. It would be interesting to see which team he chooses if the offers are all the same (vet min).

Is it $2.5M/year or $2.5M total?
$2.5M total if I'm translating that correctly.

At least that leaves us some money. Still, there go my dreams of Jose Calderon.
I actually don't really want Prigioni back. He was decent for us but with his lack of penetration and threat to score on the drive it was like he had to be paired with Felton. We can't run this tiny lineup with 2 flawed PGs if we expect to make any kind of impact in the East.
One of the point guards I said would be available as a backup say we were to make a hypothetical trade Felton for Miller.

Prigs was a big reason why we ended up being a 2nd seed. He was never suppose to be paired with felton. The problem was that kidd went AWOL after having a great November and then was gone
lol Lakers had to stand back and take that L.....
Clark has to thank D'Antoni for beefing with Gasol and Jordan Hill for tearing up his hip. Honestly I'm happy for the kid and now he gets to play with Uncle Drew....probably start.
cavs reaching when they had Speights. although he is an offense only guy.
yellowboy90 wrote:cavs reaching when they had Speights. although he is an offense only guy.
Then they weren't reaching. How do you reach on a 2yr deal?
Speights has done nothing to show he should hold down a spot over any other comparable talent.
Speights has been collecting checks nothing more.
I guess the Spurs reached here since they have Manu/Neal/Green...oh wait. I'll wait to see what they do next. All I know the rich get richer. Good thing about the Spurs, they won't have a Tax Hit team and they are CONTENDERS in every since of the word.

he has shown more than Earl. He does pretty much everything better than Clark

And Speights probably wants more money than Earl. Oh and the 2nd yr is a TO...so once again less of a reach.
So we payJR 25MM and Priggy gets 6MM but we don't even try to really retain Copeland? This was the guy that played well every opportunity he had - and stepped his game up in the playoffs. There's no logic in this - typical Knicks. We desperately need another defensive big but now KMart and Brand are out of our reach. We pAid Prigs but it didn't solve our issues at PG because he is old and can't shoulder the load in Felton gets injured. But then again these ARE the KNICKS.
If we don't upgrade the PG spot then this will be the same results.

I liked Cope but I don't think he was that critical. He is a nice offensive player but it isn't like he can't be replaced. The reality is he is a 29 year old offensive tweener with range who is coming off a surprisingly good season. Sound familiar? Steve Novak says hi from Toronto. He may not get markedly better, I take Bargnani over him and Novak because Bargnani can do what both of those players do and is younger.

I don't like it either. I would have made Copeland a higher priority than JR, Priggy, or Andrea.

JR and Bargs have nothing to do with Cope. If the Knicks wanted Prigs back the best they could do was split the mmle. My guess is if cope comes back it is for one year so the Knicks get his early bird rights and then can pay him more. Not sure if that happens but if it does my guess is cpoe's deal will be criticized for taking cap space in 2015.
