That's pretty much how I see things too. If we remember all the talk about what a player needs to be able to play with Melo then you look at AB he's exactly what you'd describe offensively. A PF that can play like a 3. He has the skills to actually thrive doing that. Also when we need him to play close to the basket AB can do that too. I think too much emphasis has been placed on his last 2 years with injuries and not enough placed on what this guy can do when healthy and on a good team where defenses can't key on him.

If anything, I can see JR Smith being Melo's "Robin". With AB, you'll be lucky to get Batgirl.

You're really that down on the guy? We barely gave up anything of value for AB. The players meant nothing to us. The 2nd rd picks meant nothing. The 1st rd pick had a chance for being a role player for this team and so that is really what this trade came down to. I think you especially will be the poster boy for eating crow this year when AB is an integral part of the teams success this year.
It seems like you feel this staff has no ability to rehabilitate a talented player and I don't agree with that. I think this staff has done a good job getting a lot out of players as long as they give the effort. AB is gonna be in the best situation he's had in his career so far. A top 5 team in the East with a superstar. He doesn't have to carry the team. He just needs to play his role. What he does best fits right into what this team needs on offense. If Woody can help AB to improve his rebounding then I think we're talking about a great steal.

Boy I know i'm a Sunny Outlook guy, but Geez you've gone dark this year. Come on man it's not that bad. The core of this team is back and I fully expect Shump to take another step up this year. Having another player who has shown he can be a primary scorer on the team and isn't afraid to take the shot is gonna be huge. Think of all the times we had guys pass up wide open shots and how that often killed our offense. We actually have PLENTY of shots to go around.
This is an approximation of the shots taken and minutes played by our core guys last year that are still around.

Now you can bring in AB and blend him into the mix. I think AB can be in the 12-14 FGA range. I expect that Shumps shots will go up to about 8 a game this year and his minutes will increase a bit. I think JR n Felton will take fewer shots and Melo might as well. Just a couple less per player.

One thing Gallo couldn't do is post up and his midrange game was almost non existent. AB is much more adept at scoring from everywhere including the post.
