I dont mind getting artest but we are still very thin at C/PF. Teams like Chicago and the Pacers and now the nets are stacked with big guys who can rebound. The problem is taht we only have the veterans minimum so its gonna be even tougher to get anyone decent. Im not sure if KMART would take less again
Woodson wants Melo at the 4 so the knicks will never be a rebounding team....Chandler is by himself. Bargnani should help open things up inside.
If so,
for PF/C
============
move on to Ivan Johnson, Jared Jeffries, Anthony Tolliver,
F/PF

Against certain teams that is fine BUT against teams like chicago and the pacers we get killed because they are bigger and play tremendous interior defense
Is Blair not a realistic option for the vet min?
Personally, I hope we hold onto Tyler because I think he could pan out.
KMart would be a best case scenario as the backup C again.

maybe had a shot with the rest of the mini MLE but we just gave that to MWP
I personally would prefer K-Mart over many of the PF/C available but nothing much we can do if he wants more money than what we can offer
Would give him a player option for 2nd year but that is the best we can do
Pecovic and Oden are available, for how much I don't know.
We will likely sign KMart (or another comparable big man) as well as either Tyler or Jennings (possibly both.) Considering Melo and MWP will both play a bulk of the minutes at the 4, as well as Bargnani probably starting there, and Chandler, Stoudemire, KMart, Bargnani and possibly Tyler all able to play the 5, we should be fine.
PF Bargnani, MWP, Melo, Stoudemire
C Chandler, Stoudemire, KMart, Bargnani, Tyler?
What hurt us last year was the lack of big men. Camby was suppose to be reliable backup but he was always injured, kurth thomas was 40 years old. KMART was great but even he cant do it by himself. We need at least 2 more guys who can rebound/defense down low

Well hopefully Dolan can Prokohov an AK47 type deal w KMart otherwise we'd just have to rely on him thinking about the garden chanting his name again after pounding some balls into the stands to make him wanna resign. He really was great last year and I'd hate to lose him.

I am not sure why but I don't think there is a big market for KMart for more than the vet mini.
Give Grunny some time, Starks!
He's trying to make due with what little we can offer. We still have 4 spots to fill the rest of the roster after the MWP signing. 2 of those spots will most likely be bigs.
We need a 3rd string PG front court players, and we have 4 slots available. Likely we sign 2 of our summer league guys (Murry as a possible PG and either Tyler or Jennings as a PF). So with our remaining 2 slots do we go for two front court players or a PG and a PF/C?
We really need K-Mart badly. I'd like Shawne Williams as he can play SF and PF. Is Murry good enough or do we still use a spot on Telfair or Brooks? Tough decisions.

Chuck did you see me insult Grunny? I think you are misinterpreting a little bit. I love Grunwald i think the guy makes smart moves most of the time. Im just a passionate knick fan who wants to see this team win more than any of the otehr teams i root for

It will all be sorted out soon Starks with each vet signing on little by little. This roster is beginning to take shape.

I will feel a little better once KMart is back

Also, KMart probably doesn't sign for the mini if the Knicks have some of the mmle left. He certainly proved he was worth more to them. Now Grunwald is negotiating from a place where he can say we want you but this is what we can give you. I think you have to think of egos when you look at this process. KMart didn't play for a big part of last season in part because he thought he was worth more than a vet mini deal.

True. $1.4m, take it or leave it. I'm hoping we can knot him up for 2 years also with player or team option, if possible.

One more year and I think they have his early bird rights.
hope you guys realize
MWP
is more of a PF at this point of his career and not a SF with his lack of speed
Melo also actually fits the PF more because he hates defending SF's that can shoot because he likes to go for the REB, 90% of the time
Problem is we don't have a legit mobile shot blocking Center
Kmart can still get the money the knicks gave because they have his non-bird rights so they can offer 1.4 + 20% which is around 1.69 million. So if k-mart wants it he has that on the table.
