This is the best news so far. I never liked Amare going to Hakeem as I thought Amare's knees would never be able to handle the spins and shakes. I always thought Amare was best when he was going straight to the basket in pick and roll to finished or taking those mid range jumpers which were automatic. Posting up was never his cup of tea and at this stage his body won't be able to handle that kind of punishment.
I am convinced tough that Woody prefers Amare in the post instead of moving without the ball because it requires Woody to have a creative offense and Woody just isn't creative.
Good. He needs to rest them as much as possible. Man needs his own personal Rickshaw or one of those mobility chairs the old folk use.
Attend the Larry Johnson/Charles Oakley camp for REBOUNDING, FIGHTING FOR POSITION/BOXING OUT, DEFENSE, and improving his footwork/mobility/balance
Hoping Melo can still make it to Hakeem's camp because he has a lot of work and practice that Hakeem could help in
If successful, Melo would be not only be a better basketball player, a leader, an efficient/consistent scorer, and a playmaker that makes his team mates better (his greatest weakness that he needs to work on)
Melo lacks trust in his team mates and has a little bit too much confidence in his own ability to get his shot off, however, he needs better shot selection
He needs to understand that he must be able to elevate the players around him instead of just making a basket
Defense, sacrificing his body for charges because he is more mobile/faster than most PF's and to use that as an advantage, BOXING OUT/PUTTING A BODY on a man sometimes is more important than grabbing a rebound, it limits one player from getting position, as EVERYONE SHOULD BE CONSISTENTLY DOING, and someone else must try to grab the rebound
The Knicks are really hoping to get something out of amare this year. I wonder how much they are monitoring his offseason training. If water work only, a minutes restriction, and not being able to play in back to back games still has him ending up with another knee injury I wonder if he retires.
I don't understand why the Knicks activated him for the playoffs. It was obvious Woody wanted nothing to do with him.

Woodson wanted to win but amare had missed the previous 30+ games. Integrating him back on a minutes restriction in the second round of the playoffs was probably a bad move. I think one more knee injury and amare retires. He can't build up or strengthen his knees to prevent them from breaking down again. Maybe he can extend his career like dyes did but I think his knee issues are past the point where limited time etc will help.
I don't really see how working out with Hakeem for a few days would make any difference to his knees. They must be in really bad shape if a few days of light spinning are going to break them!
Amar'e is going to be rusty as heck to start the season. So will JR, maybe Melo too (has he finished resting his shoulder?) I'm preparing for a slow start, but hopefully we'll pick things up after a few weeks.

same. Very strange.

Same. What this tells me is the guy is toast. This is Allan Houston territory. I was hopeful until this report, but now I think he's done.
Maybe Amare just wants to continue touring the world and what's the point in spending another 50k when Dream is not a healer. If anything he should be teaching Amare how to defend but we all know that's never happening at this point in his career

I remember Greg Oden messing up his knee getting up from a low couch. You never know what can happen with these players with bad knees.

I thought he was done the moment Woodson admitted that Amare will be on minutes restriction for the rest contract and likely what is left of his career. I don't see anyone offering him a contract when he expires. Why give the vet minimum for a guy that can only give you maybe 20minutes a game with his obligatory mid-season procedure.

I mean look at what happen last yr, that was evident enough..He works his but off during the summers so much that he's been breaking down during the season, so i could see why they held off..I just hope he stays in shape..
I don't see how this is good news at all. I want all the guys to be as complete of a player as they possibly can be. Can't control whether or not Amar'e holds up at this point. What I do know is if he hasn't gotten his reps he will be ineffective when it counts
Coming straight out from high school and relying on his physical skills/athleticism/speed/quickness that he once had and missing out of 4 years of college like Kmart did
there really are fundamentals that STAT should really work on, slight drills to work on his foot work/game shape/coordination/stretching/balance *building up core with yoga/pilates* including things off the court like watching tape on BOXING OUT/FIGHTING for position and how to limit an opponents moves on WHEN and HOW to play HELP DEFENSE while always looking to stay with his own man and recover quick enough
It is not even funny how much the little stuff/fundamentals/DEF/IQ etc that Kmart is so much better than STAT in
Including how to set a screen to free up the team mate and how/when to cut to the open spot so your own team mate can get you the ball and not allowing the defense to recover
Ian Begley @IanBegley now
Carmelo Anthony, per a source, is unlikely to play in Hakeem's camp. The decision for Amar'e to skip is not final at this point
Jared Zwerling @JaredZwerling now
Amar'e will likely make a final decision about working w/ Hakeem after he returns from Israel. Either way he's training hard, even overseas.
i don't understand why hakeem now that's not his strength , he should be working with dirk's trainer to develop an off balance jumper that is impossible to defend--- this is the perfect addition to his game and it is not beyond him,
and a three point shot,
so he'll drop the three, then he'll slash for the slam,
amar'e will play limited minutes for the rest of his career but he WILL be able to slam dunk when he chooses his spots,
so you have amar'e dropping threes, shooting off balance mid range js
and slamming it home on the cut
He has to adapt his game to be effective. This isn't good news.

it's not bad news to have to adapt, it's a good thing; you would rather he not adapt and suck?
