The NBA isn't very complicated. Don't give out long term deals and overpay role players.

Weatherspoon, James, Jefferies, Novak, Camby etc. Evaluating talent isn't that difficult. Each year there are a number of guys available to help at limited salaries.

Matt Barnes was a steal, as was Dunleavy, Nate Robinson there are a handful of guys on that list. I like Pablo and think he's in tremendous shape, but we aren't bringing in any guys to can grow down the road or make a tremendous impact. I think that's the point.

thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think you bring in Barnes to develop him. He is the same age as Metta. Dunlevy is a year younger. The Knicks had 3.1 mil to spend and got Pablo and Ron with that. The Knicks also wanted to bring Pablo back so they got their guy. You really can't remake the roster with 3.1 mil. The knick are bringing in c. J. and hardaway and probably Tyler or murry so they are trying to develop guys.

that list has quite a few young guys on there to develop..

matt barnes games has a lot more miles left than metta

but again, MS hit the nail on the head.. we can go on and on.. but if you are satisfied with pablo, metta and kenyon, then honestly I don't want to hear any complaints about injuries and of course the great old excuse.. " X" player had no help....

I am not sure how you can say the Knicks don't have a plan. The plan was to resign Prigs. Also, the Knicks are committing 2-3 roster spots to rookies. The guys they sign for those other 12 spots need to be able to play and fit the Knicks team. So getting Pablo and Ron for the mmle works for me. Kenyon played great and fits with the Knicks.

I think the goal is to win games. They won 13 straight with him running the point and his teammates play better when he is on the floor. Bringing that guy back for 1.4 million and still being able to sign Metta isn't a bad plan in my opinion.

'"X" player'...an instant classic! I guess that beats calling him "Mr .470"[Copyright 2012, Bonn LLC, Inc.] or "The unmentionable one we gave up too much for"

No, he just didn't list them. Dwight Howard ($21 mil), Jennings (around $8 mil?). I'm sure there's more

exactly and there is a reason why this doesn't include them....

If the reason is because the Knicks started the offseason with 3.1 mil mmle and vet mini contracts then the bottom four guys should be off the list.

no , not really because at the time we really tried to pursue these guys, we already made financial decisions..

and to address JR smith, he would be on this list, because he would be in a different cap slot.. his cap slot put him pretty much at the full MLE...

Serious question TK, not a judgment but be real....do you have any positive thoughts about the Knicks at all?

I can't remember a single positive post from you this entire post season. Are you here simply to rain on the parade?

The Knicks are not a good franchise and haven't been for a long time. Everything they do needs to be called into question.

Everyone knows luck is crucial in life and in sports. And sometime's players get injured.

But, this team picked up an option to Billups only to amnesty him to bring in a player that esstentially played the same position as Amare. Leaving itself open to a player that most likely was going to break down. Which left the Knicks with Toney Doublas and a rookie combo guard to run the team. A team that without a Jeremy Lin doesn't even make the fucking playoffs!!

The gave horrific deals out to three players last offseason and then traded away additional picks.

Our best pickup was someone that got amnestied last year and it appears to be the same this year.

technomaster @ 8/5/2013 3:21 PM
I think the Knicks put themselves in a position to potentially be better this coming season, while keeping things flexible for the big FA year.

With a little luck, we end up with Carmelo, Lebron, and some other third fiddle.

But in the meantime, going into the season we'll have a better roster than the team we ended last season with. The big complaint last year was that we were too old. This season we've managed to improve (for the most part), shore up some holes, all while getting younger.

The additions of Bargnani/World Peace/K Mart are excellent, rounding our existing core. Plus we're investing in young'uns - at least that seems to be the plan. We're rounding out the bench with Hardaway might be a better pro, the jury's still out on Leslie (they all say "first round talent"), plus we'll see what happens with Tyler, Murry, and perhaps Brown or a center.

Who's gone? Rasheed, KT40, Camby, Kidd, Q-Rich, Barron, White, Novak, Copeland (though I've often wondered why the Knicks don't just bring him back). Novak and Copeland were nice role players; Copeland has upside. But Bargnani has even more upside - good defender or not, a 7 footer can just put his arms up and that changes things up from a defensive standpoint.

A tremendous X-factor will be Amare. I just watched the Amare movie on netflix, and it's a damned shame that he broke down, because he looked like he was in killer shape. It'll be interesting to see what he can contribute this season. If we can get 60+ games out of him (preferably in the 2nd half into the playoffs), he could easily be the best backup big in the NBA.

you know what.. I could sit here and debate every area in which I not only disagree, but those areas that seem far fetched.. Like " with a little luck end up with lebron" but I won't... I respect your enthusiasm... anyway, You seem very upbeat, and in some areas a bit delusional(and I don't mean that with any disrespect. honestly).

I do appreciate your optimism, so I won't poo on your party here. Just had one question... what makes you think or what gives you the idea that we are investing in our young'uns?
