And I'm pretty sure we are several games under .500 with both Melo and Amare playing
We won 54 games on Melos shoulders but that didn't fly in the playoffs
Amare doesn't defend and rebound therefore Amare and Melo will never work even though both guys put up tremendous offensive numbe
Anyway its a mute point cos Amare will never play 82 games again. He has never been healthy for us in the playoffs in 3yrs. Complete bust of a signing as we are in year 4 of a 5yr $100mil deal now

Who on the team is better??
That's the problem with this team. No one is better. That's why we got bounced in the 2nd rd and it wasn't close
Papabear SaysWrong! They got bounced because Sheed Wallace, Jason Kidd, JR Smith, Camby,Kirt Thomas,Novak, and Chandler was either missing because of injuries, ran out of gas, or retired That's what happened. Be real about what really happened.
Role players dont lose a series, stop this nonsense.
Chandler is paid a ton of money to help win games doing the little things. Chandler is supposed to be a part of the Knicks big three. JR Smith was the second best player on the Knicks last year. I heard the guy from Sheridan hoops say that he thinks JR is the most important player on the Knicks after Melo again this year. Whatever was up with JR it impacted the Knicks in the Indy series. Kidd shot 12% in the playoffs but was a big part of the teams regular season success. The old bigs never were consistently around but I think they would have helped. Three of the guys on that list were starters or played starters minutes and they disappeared in that series. I don't think you can discount their lack of productions impact on that series.

Chandler is a role player, plain and simple....he is paid because of presence, and certainly is not a "big three component".
Not sure whom you are counting as starters...outside of Kidd who never should have and Chandler...who is the third? JR was a sixth man regardless of the minutes he plays.
But when you get through, when looking at any team that loses...no one looks at the role players.
Do you think any Spurs fan is blaming Danny Green?
Exactly yet we continue to blame the toney Douglas, Landry fields, mike Bibbys, Kidd, copelands, whites of the world. No doubt those guys stunk up the joint but they have much lesser roles than our "stars"
"better" is a stupid term to use in a team endeavor. "better" only counts in single person sports like tennis, boxing, surfing, ncaa and olympic wrestling.
the only term that matters is "valuable" in a team sport. or if you wish, "floor impact." if this were not true then the nba would give at an award called "best player."
jr smith was not nearly as valuable as kidd and prigioni last season. it demonstrates ignorance that anyone wants to start a conversation asserting that smith was the "second best player."

Well since Kidd started most of the season and Chandler is the starting center I was counting them. Also, JR played more minutes then any Knick. While he didn't start he certainly played starters minutes and was the second most important player on the team. Those guys were a big part of the Knicks regular season success and they disappeared in the playoffs.
And no I don't think any Spurs fan is blaming Danny Green. But I also know the Knicks don't have the roster the spurs have.

I dont think Spurs fans would blame any role player, but you're right, the Knicks dont have a roster like the Spurs, and there are reasons for that.
They went with an approach that could be a winning formula is you have top, healthy talent.....they have half of that, and they knew it from the very start.
Exactly this transpired the second we overpaid for Amare and then Melo. Making them richer than Lebron Duncan KG dirk and wade
The problems with the Knicks team structure are not insurmountable. Grunwald has IMO looked to address these issues. This roster has more capable talent than it did last year. The players we've added to replace the role players we had last year are better. This team was 2 wins from the ECF's but now with several improvements to positions of weakness from last years team?
I think the top of the East will be tightly bunched up. The teams with the best chance to win the East will be the ones with enough firepower to dominate weaker teams and battle even with the top teams. I see the Knicks as one of those top teams.

exactly..... it is like blaming the mail room clerk for the downfall of enron and not the CEO and CFO..

firepower is one half of the equation for success. the other half, defense and rebounding (including boxing out) is the other.
among miami, chicago, brooklyn, pacers, knicks who is the most sketchy defensively and rebounding-wise?
Knicks are in for a rude awakening this season
Yeah, we heard this at the start of last season, too. ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Remember how great the Nyets were going to be?
And how we were going to be first round fodder?
And the C's were going to be the surprise of the division?
I don't remember anyone here saying the Nyets would be better last yr. that was espn, Stephen A, Michael Kay and the rest of the talking heads in the media. If they said the Knicks would be better there would be nothing to talk about and their ratings would fall father below Francesas. Personally I felt the Knicks were a 50win team and they would win the division until Kidd started showing his age and the defense went in the tank and we became a .500 team. Then we rode Melo in April to secure the division. Had a great start to the postseason until knucklehead did his thing and Woodson tightened up and got embarrassed by Vogel
This yr is another story. Nyets got KG and Pierce and Indiana and Chicago improved. We remain hnstrung by Amares contract
And you apparently missed last year's entire "I'd rather fight than switch" thread war, apparently.
Knicks were a suprise in the regular season last year and did much better than expected especially without Amare for the most part!
Kudos to a good season!
Who cares who thinks what.
IM sure you got homers that think EVERY season will be good and for many years the team disappoints.
Last year they EXCEEDED in many ways in the eyes of most objective fans/media/haters/sombers.
Injuries play a key roll not just with Knicks, but with all teams. Bulls never to Rose back at all last year. Are they much better this year with him? I don't know. Maybe other injuries hamper them.
Heat? Two time Defending champs. They got that.
INdy? ON paper, should be better.
Nets? On paper, should be better.
KNicks, I'd be worried about injuries otherwise should be 3-4-5 seed.
Below. Watch Cleveland and Washington as one will surprise!
jrodmc wrote:And you apparently missed last year's entire "I'd rather fight than switch" thread war, apparently.
Oh that was one person and everyone arguing against him and I don't think he was being definitive about it just argumentive maybe. No way were the Nyets going to be better than the Knicks last year. They had no depth

There were a lot of Media out there who picked the Nets to be better and overall most did't see the Knicks being the #2 seed. I posted a bunch of season predictions in another thread. I forget which one. I'll try to find it. The Knicks surprised just about everyone.
