Knicks · I have a funny feeling the Shump may be gone, traded, out of here. (page 3)
NardDogNation wrote:I was actually thinking the same thing about Shumpert getting traded. Fortunately, with the way he played in that preseason game and what we already know to be true of him, I think that he would get another player of good value. This is a stretch but does anyone think Shumpert, Bargnani and filler could get us LaMarcus Aldridge? Should we even want LaMarcus Aldridge? I got serious reservations about his and Carmelo's ability to co-exist due to the lack of passing ability (or willingness to pass) between the two of them.
I'd rather keep our guys to be honest....I dont think LMA is an upgrade over both in the same deal.

I believe that Shump can be an all-star. he gets better every year. Woody needs to get some balls and stand up to Dolan. I am a Knicks die hard fan but have a problem with the Knicks management. Keep Shump.
So why doesn't people believe the knicks are being run by politics and not basketball talent decisions? It's why we didn't sign Copeland and signed Prigs for more money even though we scooped up Udriah.
Anybody that makes a little wave of becoming a fan favorite with talent, we have to move him because of our #1 star Mello. Can't steal any of his shine, but he can't do it by himself he needs help.
Dolan might just want this team to be a show on Broadway and not a bonafide winner in the NBA.
Even thought I dont agree with the whole "anyone whos a threat to Melo has gotta go" narrative, you honestly believe thats why Copelands gone?

Copeland is gone because of a bone head mistake by management. When they signed Copeland they should have put in an option for the second year but they didn't. Now if they didn't like him they could have let him walk. but no option?? bad move.

I hope so too. I just hope that if he is moved, its for the biggest starpuch of all-time, lol.

Even thought I dont agree with the whole "anyone whos a threat to Melo has gotta go" narrative, you honestly believe thats why Copelands gone?Copeland was becoming a secret weapon of the Knicks and growing on the fans, it's one of the reasons why the Pacers signed him. A 6'8 that can light it up effortlessly from downtown, only one other SF at 6'8 on the team does that (Melo).
JR Smith is dysfunction personified, James Dolan loves to surround himself with those kind of people it makes him feel comfortable(Guys that like to give girls the pipe). The only other player on this roster that can do what JR does in playoff intensity type games is IMAN SHUMPERT. Shump will be playing to get an extension after this season before his final yr of his rookie contract and Dolan might not be having it.
Let's just say if there isn't any controversy on the Knicks ,then Dolan isn't running the team right.
He prospers when we show signs of dysfunction and become the talk of the town in the process. Publicity whether positive or negative is a great sell for Dolan and he knows it.
We the fans know we have the same owner in place , but we are expecting different results from him. I guess we all have a touch of insanity !!!
Playa, I'm asking if you really think Copeland's popularity in NY was approaching that of Melo's, much less exceeding it. Being a fan favorite is one thing but if you want to go around saying that Melo outs people who are more popular than he is, Cope wouldn't be much of an example.
I would never say nor anyone else would say that Copeland's popularity would rival that of Melo.
What I am saying is everybody is looking for an alternative player to root for on the knicks , even though Melo is the teams best player. People root for Melo , but everybody doesn't like him.
So when a player begins to get a little popularity Dolan begins try and reduce that player popularity for what ever the reason.

I would do it for Rondo. though and the coup would be if Sully came back in the deal as well.

That "outside" player was Pablo imo and he's still here....kinda like Novak was and was rewarded with a decent contract.
I liked Copeland but I never got fan favorite out of him.

Ditto. Like I said, I don't think Aldridge and Melo would work well together but I do think getting a guy like Aldridge opens up the door to getting a Rajon Rondo.

Yeah I'd have to agree with that. I didn't have much of a problem with letting him go. Just a little annoyed that he ended up going to the Pacers who had just eliminated us.
but he's the favorite to start and shumpert is the injury prone headcase.
it's enough to make me wanna hibernate all winter.

Come on...MWP is a much better player than Copeland, even at this point in his career...Given the way the Knicks look in the first preseason game in terms of skill and depth, I doubt Copeland would have gotten any significant playing time...I'm always amazed how this board goes gaga over marginal players...

do we know why Shump missed most of training camp? that seems to be why he's in the doghouse.
I'd be all for moving Shump+filler if it somehow netted us Rondo and kept the front court intact.

I would package shump for either Love or rubio, maybe even shved (who i like a lot) or derrick williams..
Amare's expiring contract next off season may just be a huge bonus for us, especially if he plays over 65 games, not to mention bargs contract will also be expiring. Shump can easily be package with anyone of them..

Dolan is amazing- just when you think he couldn't agrivate you more, he somehow finds a way to do so.

If the Knicks cut Shump without a very, very, VERY legitimate excuse, it'll be a sad day in Knickville. Especially for fans that know anything about Basketball! This dude is clueless!
