With JR Smith on the mend, and serving an early season penance, the runner up as starting off guard has an opportunity to play a valuable role.
We need a player who can enter a game in the late second quarter and mesh with the remaining starters. This player should have the ability to life his team mates in a manner that compliments their skill sets or lift a second shift to make a 12-4 run.
From early indications, the Knicks may have an unexpected candidate.
Tim Hardaway Jr
YES!!!
Timmy "JR SMITH WHO??" Hardaway Jr!!
LOVE IT

Tim Hardaway Jr
Hardaway has looked great and I believe Woodson has said he will be in the rotation. When Shump is in that role he seems to be bringing him in at the 6 or 7 minute mark in the first quarter so whomever it is will get a lot of minutes. Not sure if Beno is going to end up being a rotation player. He hasn't looked very good so far. Maybe tonight with extended minutes he will show his stuff.
Playing Personality
The intriguing thing about Hardaway is that he, like JRSmith, plays with passion - but he plays under control. Thank pops for that. Daddy has probably reminded Tim Jr of the many things that make a professional. One of those traits could be poise under pressure.
It may have been only a pre season game, but one game winning shot is a nice place to start
Can he be trusted?
CrushAlot - don't be discouraged by a small sample. Beno Uhrih WILL be in the rotation and he WILL play a significant role. Imagine a BBC with Beno and Junior Hard. Or Junior Hard and Shump running together.
Junior Hard and Prigioni.
The combinations are endless.

Hes looked absolutely horrible and he was my favorite pickup in the off season. It's only preseason so I don't want to read too much into it but damn.
It will probably be MWP...But give Tim Jr. some time to grow into a player...He has to work on his defense and rebounding...

i just like that he gives you a lot of what jr does but without the baggage

U think he can give u 18&5 with defense as a rookie?
One thing we should consider about JR Smith is this, lets see if the competition at the 2 guard makes him play more focus like he did in his contract yr before the playoff meltdown. I like Hardaway , but I haven't seen him play against NBA players when the games count. We all know his pedigree and all, but playing at Madison Square Garden makes even 35 yr old rookies nervous, see Prigioni last yr.
We tend to project players off one or two games ...Give him some time to learn the game before we start heaping expectations on him...He is a rookie and has lots to learn....JR was better than Crawford and Manu last year...Do we really think that we have a rookie that can replicate that??..
no one is saying that timmy jr can replicate jr's big, empty scoring numbers,
timmy can drop buckets in his own way without the lunatic baggage,

rodman wasn't a lunatic,
he balled hard all the time!!
why did we resign JR again?
the playoff choking? the surgery? the drug use?
I like Hardaway Jr., but I do think Bullock should have been our pick. I'm all in for him as 6th man but actually think he will play better with Melo out there.
How the heck did Jr. shoot 3-16 last night? (I missed the game.) My guess is that he was shooting off the dribble and such. The team knows he suffers then, but without the starters I would have hoped for an adjustment.

i think the drug use,
because everyone loves that fun guy in the bunch that is high,
he can make good jokes and witty comments
