Knicks · Ainge says no team has contacted him about Rondo (page 1)

HOUSTON – Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Monday that he has not received any inquiries from other teams interested in acquiring Rajon Rondo.

Ainge's comments come on the heels of what seems like an annual tradition – trade rumors involving the Celtics' All-Star point guard, the latest one involving the New York Knicks.

Yet Ainge said he hasn't heard from any team about Rondo – and Ainge said he doesn't expect that to change, either.

If this is true, other teams who might want Rondo for a playoff push wouldn't know for sure when he would be back and ready to contribute, so they're holding off. I'm surprised that a team or two didn't at least try a lowball offer, using Rondo's injury as an excuse. That's why I wonder if Ainge is telling the truth.

I know Rondo's rep isn't good after Boston's core and coach packed up and left him, including Garnett and his no trade clause. But I have a hard time believing that no one has called about him.

Don't be surprised, Ainge is probably lying.
