Knicks · Thought of two trades to get us younger (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 11/26/2013 10:14 PM
Tyson Chandler to New Orleans for Tyreke Evans--Evans is a bad fit for them and we can make him our PG.
Bargani to Houston for Asik
Vmart @ 11/26/2013 10:18 PM
Why would they want Tyson? They have a center Jason Smith who basically gives them everything Tyson does. Make it happen I'm a Evans fan.
CrushAlot @ 11/26/2013 10:25 PM
Shump, Hardaway and Bargs for Asik and Lin works on trade machine. I think Houston would consider that but Lin has been playing really well for them.

Jason Smith is not a C. Having Davis and Chandler would make them really good quickly--they have too many ball dominant guards. We could put Evans at our PG position.

They could use Bargs effectively Asik has almost no value to them

I agree. Lin has been playing great for them but they have Beverly and Brooks played really well when Harden was out. Brooks and Beverly are nowhere near the cap hit Lin is so that would be the plus in the trade.

Saw Sacramento try that experiment for four years and it never worked. Wouldn't mind Asik, can Houston can probably has cheaper options.

I think that Evans is a bad fit for them because he's a bad fit for everyone. I really think that his game is cancerous. He's skilled but has incredibly low basketball IQ and is an incredibly selfish ball player. With his confidence no longer there, I wouldn't want anything to do with him.

callmened @ 11/26/2013 11:09 PM
Tyreke evans is a GREAT fit for the pels (i watch a lot of their games). He plays on the 2nd unit and hes free to do what he wants

Lin back to NY? Are you kidding? Work so hard to get read of him and then get him bask? Blasphemy...

That is the only way the deal works. 3-10 = fun night?

They have Isaiah Canaan down in the DL too (hasn't been playing great in the DL but he's young and has good potential--I would've drafted this guy over THJ) -- that's 4 capable PGs Houston has, better than anything we have. Bargs played well against them too in NY a few games back. Bargs for Asik and Canaan?? I'd do that deal..

The biggest reason for a trade like that being held up is egos. Morey and Dolan both lose face a bit in a deal like this. Does either bend and include a draft pick?

I'm not sure -- I'd do that deal though -- Bargs for Asik and Canaan. Just watched the last 5 mins. of a Rio Grande Valley Vipers game -- Canaan didn't shoot well (terrible inbound pass in the final secs that could've cost them the game too ) but he still finished with strong numbers: something like 22 & 15. He's a work in progress, more of a scorer than a true point, but I like his talent level. And I definitely like his ability to put the ball in the hole. PGs that can score are an added bonus -- to me, they're better than ones that can't. To me, that Rocket club is championship caliber. I don't think they'd part with Lin or Beverley (I don't want Lin's contract anyway) and you're right -- Brooks just had 25 or something the other night so he's still capable (another guy I wanted this off-season -- at least we had interest and may have even offered him a deal at one point--Brooks chose Houston over NY for family reasons)...Canaan is an extra PG for them (not even on the Rockets' roster right now; he's in the DL)--he's the 1 PG out of the 4 they may be willing to include in a deal.

CrushAlot @ 11/27/2013 1:09 AM
Also, if you didn't like Caanan you could sub in Brooks. The reason Lin was included was because it was the only deal that worked in the trade checker/

Tell ya what, God forbid the Knicks are truly out of playoff contention by the trade deadline -- forget Bargnani to the Rockets -- I might offer them Carmelo and see if I could bring back an even better package. If I'm Morey I wouldn't necessarily want Melo--I like what they have, but you never know. Melo's a top player -- add him to D-12, Harden, Lin?? They may feel that puts them over the top for a title. One of the few teams out there that could put together a competitive package to get Melo if they chose to. We'd have a chance to rebuild with a few young pieces and maybe a few draft picks. Worst case scenario of course. Only if we're clearly out of it AND it looks more & more like Melo may bolt on us.

I agree. The rockets have a tremendous asset in Parsons. He is on a rookie second round deal I believe. If you could get Asik, Parsons and filler for Melo etc., I think the Knicks would have to consider it. Walsh would have a Tyson trade already set up. Not sure what Mills will do.
Finestrg @ 11/27/2013 1:26 AM
Just looking over the Rockets' team salary -- yeah, it would be hard to pull off a Melo trade this year. Forgot Lin and Asik don't make the real 'poison pill' money until next year. Maybe we could do a S&T involving Melo this coming off-season if everything went to shit, esp. if the Rockets come up short for a title. Maybe Melo's a player they'd want in the off-season. It'd give us more time to accurately gauge Melo's intentions by then as well. Houston could/should be a place he'd want to be next year -- they'd be a power house! Plus, He's got a good relationship with Hakeem, having worked with him last summer I believe. He could continue that work with him full-time now in season.

Speaking of Parsons, he's why they wouldn't want Bargnani right there. Much better player that they already have. Bargs would only chew into Parsons' PT among other players and he's nowhere near as good. And Morey's too smart to deal away a talent like Parsons for Andrea Bargnani...They may want Melo at some point however..

I think the Bulls are the better trade partners. I think the Knicks could have Deng and Rose for a package of melo/ shump, Felton and hardaway jr. I believe it works in trade checker.
y2zipper @ 11/27/2013 1:47 AM
Lin and Asik only count for 8 million each against the cap in spite of the poison pills.

I also think you gotta stay the heck away from Rose at this point. The history of coming back from 2 knee injuries isn't on his side. You start missing multiple seasons and you're well on your way to being Bynum, Odom, Roy or Bill Walton. Even Michael Jordan wasn't the same player after his hiatus.

EnySpree @ 11/27/2013 4:22 AM
What about amare? Hakeem could be a catalyst for that deal. Amare is wasting here. The Rockets don't have a big man. The young kid they have in there is doing good though. Houston could capitalize on a resurrected amare....we could do the same with Lin and asik.
