Knicks · Cavs talking Dion Waiters for Shumpert, what you guys think? (page 2)

skeng @ 11/27/2013 6:12 PM
I have a question for the CBAxperts - if we traded for Turner, would he be a restricted FA or what? Would we be able to even pay him?
gunsnewing @ 11/27/2013 6:15 PM
I wonder how he would fit in Woodsons offense
gunsnewing @ 11/27/2013 6:19 PM
Faried Will actually fill a need

id actually make this trade in a heartbeat if it were actually offered to us.

He is strong but I never see him go to the basket or post up. For example he is more Ben Gordon/Rashad McCants than Wade lite

He is a house and he does go to the basket. I can't remember him posting up but he does beat guys off the dribble to get to the basket.

no thanks on waiters. If we are going to trade SG for SG then actually get one that can shoot.

I just don't see where the talent upgrade is seems more of a downgrade adding Waiters.

I think it is a huge talent upgrade. My concern would be about his maturity and if he is a bad apple. Trading the 4th pick in the lottery in his second year 12 games into the season is a bad sign in my opinion.

I don't know man Waiters is shooting 39% last year he shot 41% doesn't seem like an upgrade at all. Waiters may be a bad seed but Shump is good seed who seems to be a little mentally weak. I think Waiter isn't a need the Knicks have Shump should be traded for a need PF, PG. I'll take Faired or Dragic or even Phil Pressey for Shump. The Knicks have THJ and still have Smith. THJ might be a better player than Waiters.

These are the kind of deals you may get for shumpert, not the pipe dreams of guys like faried.. Shumpert at this point is not that good, and his stock is low, we may consider ourselves a bit fortunate if we can get a guy like waiters for shumpert.. at this point....

Dude also shoots 39 percent from three.

everyone would, but no one would give you faried for shumpert only. denver shot that down.... right now you are not going to get prime players for shumpert..

I won't be surprised if the Cavs trade Dion Waiters. From what I'm told, this isn't the first time they've offered Waiters in trade talks.
Finestrg @ 11/27/2013 8:22 PM
I don't know man. He's strong, I like his game but his habitually low shooting % gives me pause (even the 1 year in college). Not sure there's much difference between Waiters and Dominique Jones (nbadraft.net gave this comparison). Jones might be the better player pound for pound; he's definitely more PG oriented, a better passer and has a better handle. Might be just as good an offensive player as well (he was at South Florida). Jones just needs a full-time NBA commitment and PT somewhere...Not sure D. Jones is even in the league at this point -- does Dallas still have him?? We could go get that guy for nothing probably and save Shump for something more substantial (reclamating him back to respectability in the meantime). Jermaine Taylor is another 6'5"-ish 2G that I've always been pretty high on. Again, if we want this type of player--an instant offense type 2G in the 6'4" range--go get Taylor and save Shump for something else, or just build him back up.

Curious -- what do Cavs fans think of this proposed deal? Anyone have a pulse of what Cleveland fans think of this?

BigDaddyG @ 11/27/2013 8:33 PM
He's not looking too shabby tonight.
Melonoma @ 11/27/2013 8:34 PM
LMAO if you think the Cavs would trade Waiters for Shumpert + anyone on our roster + whatever picks we have to offer. This isn't 2k.

Knick fans overrate their own players more than any other team. Shumpert isn't looked at as an extremely valuable piece by other teams. We had one shot to unload him for a better player in Nash and we blew that.

Melonoma @ 11/27/2013 8:36 PM
CrushAlot wrote:I wonder if the Knicks would try to flip Waiters possibly for Faried if they do this.

Do you people even think before you write these things? The Knicks would have to throw in like like three first round picks to get either of those players for Shumpert.

EnySpree @ 11/27/2013 8:55 PM
Waiters is better..... but the knicks don't need a shooting guard.

What can we do to get a player we need? Pg and big man

You can blame ESPN for this particular rumor. If it's true, you have to wonder how much of a cancer Waiters is.
