Knicks · Fire Woodson already!! (page 12)

No, this is not essentially the same roster. You do NOT plug and play people, or relationships on the court. This is not fantasy league. Not trading cards. People. Who are all different. Change just one component and the change in skill set affects how athletes relate.

Nor is it the same year or the same league of competition.

Essentially, your theory is more bogus than JR Smith, Martin, Stoudemire and Felton playing while injured.

More bogus than signing Chris Smith.

If you are counting guys like Camby, Thomas, and Sheed, you must refer to their locker room presence, but the fact is they played too few games to make a basketball impact besides a few games here and there. From a basketball standpoint, this is a similar roster with a similar makeup. From a leadership standpoint, it's clearly different.

Bootleg Alert via Nalod

We keep bringing in good coach's and they keep leaving with lower self esteem, lower win counts, and fatter bank.
Woodson goes:
18-6
54-27

and at 3-13 we gonna shyt can him thinking as one would think rearranging the deck chairs of the Titanic would have saved the ship.

What is missing?

Amare is at the moment out of shape trying to come back.
JR has secret surgeries and not the strongest mind on the team.
Shump has secret surgery, lost confidence, and might be in pain.
Tyson is out.
Metta is old but funny.
Kenyon not providing leadership
Felton is skinny but not stronger
Pablo is really 42
Hardaway acts like he never dunked before
and Melo checked out............
Oh, woodson forgot how to coach.

one more thing on last years different Knicks. (we had a 40 per cent roster turnover)

Knixkix - the impact of Kurt Thomas was huge. Or have you forgotten how he sacrificed his body on the last day of a brutal road trip?

Do you remember what followed?

Please remind us!

With the likes of Sheed, Camby, Kidd and KT the vacuum left by them is not filled by Melo. Great players don't make leaders.

30 Years In The Business

"This is 30 years in this business. I've seen a lot over the time that I've been as a player and coach. I've seen streaks like this. This happened when I was a rookie head coach. It's not fun. But these players can't see me panic."

"I thought across the board everybody was committed. Everybody who played gave us something. That's what we're going to need to get out of this hole."

- Head Coach Mike Woodson

Knicks1248 - one thing is certain. After 30 years in the business, Mike Woodson still needs you to tell him how to win a basketball game.

nixluva @ 12/6/2013 12:30 AM
This game doesn't let Woody off the hook. I think they won in spite of him. It's not like he has been doing a great job all year and the team was just losing despite his great play calling and rotations. He's flat STUNK! Once the ball started moving a bit the team had Muscle Memory and finally started playing like they did last year. It's not like he has been all over JR about not passing. To listen to Woody he didn't know what was wrong and didn't think "Ball Movement" was the problem. REMEMBER THAT??? He thought it wasn't about Ball Movement!!! Everyone but him realizes that has been the problem.

V is For Vendetta

I think they won in spite of him

nixluva - chile please. You are now coming off as small minded. Ignore all the Woodson statements about holding a team together. Cool. Ignore the injuries to Felton, Smith, Chandler and JR Smith. Cool. Diss the Nets win as if the coach is some mental midget (compared to your superior understanding of what conversations happen on and off camera) Cool. ...for the record, we all know the Nets are basketball midgets.

unless you have set foot in the locker room, how in the hell do you know the vibe of players and coaches?

Have you ever been in the training room on a game day and watched guys get taped at 2 in the afternoon? Rode a team bus? You know absolutely nothing about how players and coaches relate or respond to one another. Nothing.

Pop Quiz - does head coach Mike Woodson bear any responsibility for the improved play of Andrea Bargnani, or does that simply happen in a vacuum?

The least you can do is be honest about your vendetta, and simply recite, "I miss Mike D'Antoni to the point my eyes burn with anger over his leaving..."

Anything...

But please, please, please....if you want respect as an opinion writer... Never say that a team won in spite of their coach... and with the same pen... say that a team is also losing because of him. Think about that.

Using your distorted math, Head Coach Mike Woodson will never win.

Sounds Reasonable

“This thing has never been about me, it’s about the fans of New York and our team. We got to feel good about playing in our building. It’s important that we’ve got to go home and validate what we did tonight.”

- Head Coach Mike Woodson

misterearl @ 12/6/2013 10:18 PM
The Knicks allowed him to talk for all of three minutes. And then, per Dolan’s media policy, he was escorted down the hallway by the ever-present team PR person on his way to the bus. But before that, he got to visit with people who genuinely like him, and they presented him with his victory cigar. When he left the arena, he was holding onto it tightly.

I'm starting to think you are Mike Woodson, jeez you'll defend this dude to the death

CrushAlot @ 12/6/2013 10:22 PM
Woodson was put in a very compromised position this year. There was no reason his gm and college friend should have been fired. Once that happened everything got crazy. Keeping Chris, not playing Kenyon, playing busted Amare, and giving shump's minutes to JR and Hardaway before they were earned appeared to be a directive. Losing an inspired Tyson and not being able to keep another capable big when the cuts were made say it all.

I appreciate what you're pointing out, but really none of this has anything to do with a coaches job of drilling into his players what the objective will be on offense and defense and making sure that the scheme is clear. He had a scheme that worked last year and many of the same core players. There's no excuse for the fact that Woody ABANDONED the game plan from last year. Regardless of who was on the court that style of play should not have changed and he put in NOTHING in it's place. Then he gets mad when people suggest that the problem is a lack of ball movement and spacing!!! Now we can see that it actually was a huge part of the problem. Not roster or injury or even new players.

Make your move. And please make it basketball related.

Do I have a problem with it? Of course not. Do I find it humorous? Yes, considering there is much more evidence suggesting Woodson has been a poor coach this season than a strong one, evidence that has been stated multiple times by many posters. The only argument to defend Woodson is the record from last year, which honestly doesn't say much after our start this year. You keep posting these lines from Woodson that are very run of the mill, ordinary things for a coach with a struggling team to say, and then you make them out to be profound. I don't have a problem with it, it's just bizarre.

Dagger - where do you rank Ray Felton with NBA point guards?

Just gimme a number

Dagger - think of it this way. the Knicks allow exactly 3 minutes access to Mike Woodson per day for interviews. three. How are you drawing your locker room analysis from second hand reports lasting 270 seconds?

Throw out his overall record as Knicks coach.

Judge him on today.

It's the environment.

New York/ Cablevision/ Dolan family spit our Hall of Fame NBA coaches like sunflower seeds.

Is Mike Woodson Hall of Fame? Of course not. His players may not always like what he says, but, unlike the bleating majority, they have never lost respect for Woodson.
