I think the later. The same thing happened to D'Antoni in his last year. They took away his gm, his point guard and put him in a compromised position with Woodson coming in as an assistant head coach. Woodson lost his gm, lost the anchor to his defense, and has been compromised on how he gives guys minutes, who has roster spots etc. It doesn't work when you do that to guys. Losing Tyson can't be helped but signing a legit back up, even Barron would have helped.
looking at the stat sheet night in and night out, and all i see is melo 23+ attempts 40+ minutes..the next player with the most attempts took 12 less shots..the shot distribution is nothing more then pathetic..
No one other then melo and maybe JR is willing to take a big shot

In regards to my take on D'Antoni, I was glad to see him go and I didn't think a team could win playing the way he wanted the Knicks to play. However, I think if he is your coach you have to recognize what you have and give him a point guard. Once Walsh left and Grunwald amnestied Billups I think Grunwald basically was setting things up to move on. I don't know that Mills has a plan.

D'Antoni did need a PG for his scheme to work. It didn't help that Melo was half azzing it.

Raymond Felton gives fans headaches. He's inconsistent most of the time, but he plays hard. He's also clutch, but can't defend an elite point guard to save his life. One thing is for sure, he's the best the Knicks could do and that's alright. Felton never plays scared, sometimes to a fault, and he can say that he was a floor general for a 50-win team. Not many points on this list can say the same.
2. Inject Jeremy Tyler with some high quality steroids
3. Start Tim Hardaway Junior at the two and leave him there for the next five years

The Knicks didn't work with their coach, knowing he needed at least a decent PG. He's 9-8 with Blake and Farmar as his PG's. Woody is no different in a sense cuz he needs a PG but a different kind of PG. I think Woody needs a good defensive PG 1st and foremost. Woody isn't really into the fancy offense but he has to have a PG that can move the ball and attack the basket. They should've tried harder to find another PG that was young enough to provide that. Felton isn't that guy and you would think they learned that last year when they had to pair him with Prigs, but Prigs is too old. They still can work to find a better option. It's not like we're looked into a lot of money with Beno.

Just have to say shump needed to be in there not jr in the fourth. Also shump is the only guy on the Knicks that can defend tyreke. Woodson's sitting shump or hardaway to play jr should get him canned.
No timeouts in the 4th until under a minute left. Some players getting heavy minutes, but aren't given a chance to rest and reset. JR gets the royal treatment again. Tactical errors and errors like giving JR free reign which is not basketball related, no way you can convince me of that.

jr is the worst ... he's comedic out there ... having him in there in the 4th once again was a slap in the face to fans and the rest of the team

firing woodson is not going to solve anything substantive. it is true that he is a very limited coach working with a very difficult mishmash of players, but the mishmash of players is the heart of the problem. this is what you should expect when you throw together a team with no real plan. and no, attempting to surround a very limited, non-franchise player like carmelo anthony with the right pieces is not a plan, either.
