nixluva wrote:I'm hearing a lot of lame ass BS! Woodson had a full training camp to figure out what he wanted to do and all he could say is he didn't know who the team was. We started with MOST of the key players from last year in terms of production and minutes. Don't tell me this is not an indictment on Woody's coaching. It's a clear reflection of the way he prepared the team. This is his decision making and lack of ability to give the team a clear sense of what they should be doing. This doesn't mean they can't eventually play better but the dudes coaching is suspect IMO. Putting all the evidence together from his years here he is not proving to be a top coach. Where is the growth of this team from last two yrs to this year? We have players who should be having breakout seasons this year and the opposite has happened. I most certainly can blame Woody for this. With this much time with the same core players they should perform as a unit almost on auto pilot by now. The guy clearly hasn't had that kind if effect on his players!!! Everything else is BS!
The players are already stating what they are missing.....veteran leadership and smarts.
Melo just said it today, JR said the same thing a few weeks ago...even Woodson has stated this isnt the same team.
When the star player says the team doesnt have chemistry, thats not the coach...that an improper roster.
Changing the coach is an easy fix, but what does it fix...the team isnt a good team....just a collection of individual talent.
Woody right now is going through what Doc did before the Big three....but I know they should have fired Doc, even though the team sucked.
Put it this way - our 2nd best player should be closer to an 8th man. Bargs would not even be a starter on a well-designed team. That's how shitty our roster is.
All I know is there's no reason coming out of camp that this team was such a mystery to Woodson. There's no reason he couldn't run the same basic offense he had when Prigs, Felton, Shump, Melo and Tyson started and the team had a clear vision of what they were doing. The simple thing is to start there and work with the new additions to learn that flow and spacing. We didn't see that. This was a major fail by Woodson. The only thing that can save him is for guys to just get hot shooting and bail him out. That still isn't a substitute for good coaching.

Nixluva - you repeat the same nonsense and ignore the fact there were eight new players on the roster.
Stop it.
Defenses nixluva, defense
Prigioni is 57 years old, and cannot stay in front of John Wall
Felton is injured
Shumpert had secret knee surgery
Melo is Melo
Tyson has been missing for 4 weeks, or have you noticed?
Look at reality, not your Mike D'Antoni campaign posters

The problem isn't that we have new players. It's that we have shitty players.
What's New?

Especially on defense.
The league has passed our (cough) talent by. Everyone else got better, especially in he backcourt... ON DEFENSE.
Defense
One more thing nixluva, speaking of defense...
Ty Lawson has 10 points in the first quarter already
It's time to fire woody, and hire Phil Jackson
He won't come here. The roster is clumsier tha. When Pbil said the roster was clumsy
Yeah, Phil would have to be out of his mind to come here.

He said that when he wasn't offered the job and was offended. Not a Phil fan. The guy was so smug when he coached the greatest player ever. Would love to see Phil take on a rebuilding job.
I don't see how people didn't see this coming! If we couldn't win it all last year, which wasn't going to happen with the fools gold team, we will never win with Melo as our best player! Nuke the site from orbit and start over and don't let the owner be involved, god willing!
IMO A coach can either foster a nurturing environment or a debilitating one. There is ample evidence that Woody has been part of the problem this year. He's provided no answers for the Swiss cheese D nor the simplistic and sloppy offense. Exactly what is his purpose here if he's unable to help these players learn how to function as a unit on both ends? There have been far worse collections of talent, so I can't give him a break based on the roster. He's just not that good. Can't even manage .500 with this team has to be a reflection on him as a coach. Can't give him tons of credit for his W/L record and just ignore what he's doing now.
There have been far worse collections of talent
I'm gonna call BS on that. Our 2nd best player should be more like a 7th or 8th man (if not 11th or 12th). Teams like OKC or Miami would never start a guy like Bargnani.
Line For line

Ownership sets the franchise environment. From the architecture to the employees. The GM leads on player personnel. The coach controls only one thing, minutes. Period.

There is apple evidence that your Mike D'Antoni Election Campaign finances are running on redundancy
nixluva wrote:He's provided no answers for the Swiss cheese D nor the simplistic and sloppy offense.
Swiss cheese defense. Hey, that's original.
I miss Corey Brewer

I don't know, it's hard to see Melo as a 7th or 8th man on another team

+1
Sarcasm Alert
Back to nixluva on Knicks untapped talent, and they way our superior backcourt must be underachieving due to coaching... especially at the point.
Who is guarding Jrue Holiday?
One more point on talent...nixluva.
When the Pelicans go to the bench and put Tyreke Evans at point guard, who do you want covering him... Beno or Pablo?
And I love Pablo.
