Knicks · Pierre Jackson, Seth Curry and Richard Howell (page 2)

t actually gets a little more complicated. Jackson, who averaged 30.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in two wins over Bakersfield to begin his pro career, is still the property of the Pelicans, and not eligible to be called up by another NBA team.
New Orleans assumed Jackson would spend the season in France, rather than join a crowded backcourt situation, with Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon, Tyreke Evans, Brian Roberts, Anthony Morrow and Austin Rivers all ahead of him on the depth chart. The problem was, Jackson got homesick and decided to play this season in the NBA D-League. In order for an NBA team other than New Orleans to make a play for Jackson, it would have to trade for his rights.
Santa Cruz guard SETH CURRY, on his approach to his time in the NBA D-League:
"I've just got to go out and focus on playing the same way I would (in the NBA). Just be aggressive. I can't go out there thinking I've got to kill just to show everybody, prove everybody wrong. I just have to go out there, stay calm and play. I think I can do a good job of that. I'm definitely not where I want to be"
SB Nation, Nov. 26, 2013
Curry is beasting.

Heck, I honestly believe Roberts would be our best PG on our roster right now, and for our future

I stand corrected. I guess this is similar to how Cuban acquired the draft rights to Nick Calathes a couple of years ago and then stashed him away in Europe or how we acquired the draft rights to Ahmad Nivins and Giorgos Printezis from Dallas as part of the Tyson Chandler deal (don't believe those guys were ever officially on the 15-man roster).
Go to the next guy on the list -- Seth Curry. And Jeremy Pargo is another guy I'd consider too, when his Euro season ends or if he could be bought out earlier for a reasonable sum of money. This dude's skilled and very athletic and absolutely could play in the NBA. Keep digging...Ashame about Jackson -- dude would've been perfect here. Oh well...Call up the Pelicans and see if a minor deal could be worked out somehow. PJ sees a crowded situation there -- that's why he elected to go play for France in the first place. I don't think he wants to play there...Pelicans are in the driver's seat on this though -- this kid's blowing up the DL like a nuclear bomb. They're holding the cards I guess -- let's see if we can get them to flinch. You figure the price has got to be less than what Toronto wants for Kyle Lowry (I can't see anyone giving away a 1st round pick for Pierre Jackson -- not at this point in time). Too bad Shumpert's been playing so Goddamn poorly -- the more I think about it, dealing him wouldn't been the end of the world. I know he can play better than this but my man is LOST right now. Throwing up airballs?? Wow. No feel for what he's doing out there at all. Too bad N.O. doesn't really need a SG. Shump could be replaced. If we traded him for a different player, go out and fill his void with someone like Chris Douglas-Roberts maybe (also playing very well in the DL). With how Shump's regressed lately, CDR would be an upgrade for sure (this is what kinda makes me think the Lowry trade wouldn't be terrible -- include Shump, get Lowry, replace Shump with a guy like CDR and come out ahead at both positions --- I still don't love the deal but a follow up signing of CDR would make it easier to swallow I suppose).
Bottom line with the Knicks -- we need a PG upgrade AND an imposing presence inside, preferably at the 4 with Chandler on the verge of coming back. K-Mart can't stay healthy but it's pretty obvious to see the effect he had recently. We need a younger version of K-Mart. A guy that's gonna body up, defend, rebound the hell out that ball and maybe do some intimidating as well. Richard Howell is slightly undersized at 6'8" and not a big-time shot-blocker but he'll defend, rebound like a demon and his offensive game is very underrated (better than K-Mart's). RonRon -- you were a big Jamelle Hagins guy leading up to the draft -- where's he been playing? What's Ike Diogu been doing since we cut him?
Finestrg@ 12/14/2013 9:04 AM
Ike Diogu just resurfaced in the DL for the Bakerfield Jam. Just played his 1st game Thursday. If K-Mart's gonna be lost for any length of time here, we desperately need to add a more physical presence at that position, preferably someone a hell of a lot younger than what we've been going to war with & someone who could play both ends of the floor. That's what we need to be looking for.

I think they need to get Curry. If they are bringing up Tyler do it. Not sure that Woodson plays Tyler though.

Haggins has been playing a 9-10man role and hasn't done too much in a French Euro League..

Woodson won't play anyone from the DL that's his nature the man is going out with what he likes. What he likes ain't winning shyt for him.

Part of the reason why he's gotta go imho. it's clear as day to me that this team needs an infusion of overall youth & excitement. Young players generate excitement and could really galvanize this team.

And in the flip side he had no choice but to play guys due to injury and he still won't play them

Exactly. It's truly unbelievable.

I wonder what role Cole has tonight. Hopefully he gets minutes with Kenyon out.

Exactly. He's gotta play tonight, stubborn ass Woodson doesn't even have a choice now -- STAT just played both games in a back to back and probably sits tonight. Unbelievable how thin we our now in terms of big guys. I almost feel we should go out and sign a guy, even if just for tonight...I just hope the kid goes out there and gives it his best -- go out there and own it, don't play timid like in pre-season. OWN IT, COLE! This is your time now, young fella.
This is what I wanna see. The kid's capable, man. Former lottery pick:
