Knicks · Pierre Jackson, Seth Curry and Richard Howell (page 1)

These are 3 players I'd look to sign right now right out of the NBDL. We could add these guys for nothing -- no surrendering young assets off the 15-man roster, no more giving away draft picks. ENOUGH!!!! Seriously guys, it's gotta stop. We need to draw a line in the sand right now. That's it. I actually like Kyle Lowry but honestly, he wouldn't make that much of a difference here. He's a marginal upgrade over what we already have in place at the point...Why can't we go out there, show some vision and find our own couple of gems somewhere? Why do we have to overpay for someone else's players; players their teams don't even want anymore? Enough.. ENOUGH!!!!

The Idaho Stampede of the D-League are a perfect 7-0 right now. Once you see that, only natural to start looking into why they're undefeated. I think the 2 main reasons are Jackson and former Wolfpack PF Richard Howell, along with some solid PG play from former Mississippi State guard Dee Bost. Bost has talent -- thing with him is, he just doesn't shoot the ball well enough with any regularity, even going back to college. Sub 40% shooter from the field wherever he's been which is too much of a red flag... These other 2 are keepers though and would fit in BEAUTIFULLY here. Both guys would add instant identity to our team, possibly the worst team in the league right now. I honestly believe a little more youth and excitement would go a long, long way toward salvaging the year -- it would energize the crowd and I think it would even pump up the existing veterans. We need to ask ourselves -- does Kyle Lowry put us in championship contention? No, he doesn't. So why deal away possibly 2 young assets for a guy that probably bolts on us after the season? Either that or we'll have to pay handsomely (overpay) for him to stay which will interfere with the rebuilding process that we'll obviously need to go through again soon. Makes no sense at all.

Even though Jackson's under 6' he's about the most dynamic, exciting player we could possibly add to the mix right now. Much more over Kyle Lowry. Come on -- are you kidding me? Not even close. If we make this deal, the moment we continue losing with Lowry, the Garden fickle will jump all over this dude, he'll then refuse to re-sign (not that I'd even want him back), Woodson'll get canned finally and then that'll be that. Jackson's strong/well put-together, very athletic, one hell of a scorer for a point (always a plus in my book, an added bonus) and, despite Dee Bost handling the ball for the Stampede, he's a legit point guard, very capable of handling, directing traffic and distributing the rock himself (big-time scorer for Baylor, also a very good passer who racked up some big-time assist games). He'd put up points, shoot it well enough, get in the paint AT WILL, get to the line AT WILL and distribute the ball to keep everyone happy. What more could we want??? Again, wouldn't have to give up a single asset to get him; we'd just have to clear a roster spot (Chris Smith). What's the big worry with this kid, that he's only about 5'11" in shoes? Come on -- big deal.. What was Nate Robinson? 5'8"? This guy's a better player than Nate. Sorry. AND he's a real PG. Ask yourselves -- what the hell is the difference between 5'11" and 6', 6'1" anyway? I don't think there is any. What clear-cut advantage does a 6'1" PG have over a guy that's 5'11"? Tell me? Jackson's too strong and athletic to get pushed around by someone an inch or 2 bigger imo.

This kid Howell is just a worker, a guy you respect and want in the trench with you. EXCELLENT rebounder in college, EXCELLENT rebounder now in the DL and that ability will 100% transition over to the NBA. CJ Leslie may have more unrealized potential than this kid, but this guy was NC State's best player last year imo. Should've gotten drafted...Not a bad offensive player at all by any stretch of the imagination too btw -- he's fundamentally sound around the basket, a tireless worker, very capable of cleaning up off the offensive board and he can step out and nail 15 footers. Part of the problem is that we simply don't have enough youth and production at the 4 spot. I know Martin played well against Chicago with all the blocks, STAT looked good too, but that position is a major weakness for us. We desperately need a different look there. This kid, the way he works and the way he plays, would be fantastic -- definitely a guy the crowd would rally around and appreciate. Only about 6'8" so he's no monster -- but again, just like Jackson, I don't care. He plays bigger than that..Picture Reggie Evans with a much better overall game. Light years better offensively.. Would require another roster cut to add -- take your pick here. Beno Udrih?

In order to add the last piece, Seth Curry, a decision would finally have to be made on Cole Aldrich or Tour'e Murry. To add this kid -- I'd cut Murry. I see what makes Murry attractive but I just see a much higher ceiling with Seth Curry, plus I liked Cole Aldrich in college and refuse to believe he forgot how to play basketball. Aldrich should've been playing all along here, esp. since Chandler went down. This dude could've/should've been helping us for weeks.. Shame on Woody here, seriously. If put in a position to make a choice between Murry & Curry -- I'd chose Curry. We all wanted Steph Curry in the draft a few years back -- his brother has a lot of the same qualities. Same DNA and it shows in his game. Lights out shooter, should've gotten drafted on this ability alone. And all he's done since then is go to the DL, work on his game and SHOW without a doubt that he can take over and run a ballclub for long stretches. Lead guard material right here.

Chris Smith, Beno Udrih and Aldrich or Murry out -- Jackson, Seth Curry and Richard Howell in. And then for the love of God PLAY 'EM!!! Start here. Start with 10-day contracts, ready to follow with offers for the rest of the year and even 2-3 year deals once they showed their worth...If Woody didn't want to adhere to something like this, there's the door. Dude should've been fired already anyway. I much prefer something like this over dealing for Kyle Lowry. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with this. This team needs to start think smart. But what are the chances that they get PT here as Woody runs a bland show.

its time to try something different. The guys they are depending on (Felton, JR, Shumpert, Udrih, MWP) are not working. Give some young HUNGYR players a chance to shine.

I have no problem with the Knicks looking at some of these young players. I really don't get why they're so anti youth. The way Felton and Beno have looked it seems almost impossible that there is no young guard in the D League with more talent and ability than what they've shown. How is that even possible? I'd keep Murry and cut Beno. At least Murry has upside. A Seth Curry or Pierre Jackson would be well worth a shot.

I hope Murry finally gets a chance here. I've been saying that all along. I just feel the Knicks, specifically Woody I guess, just don't see big things in this kid. Couple that with the fact that he wasn't a big performer either in college or the DL -- that's why I'd want to shoot for something better if forced to choose the best player for the roster spot (P. Jackson, Seth Curry).

Is Jackson on assignment from OKC? If so it would take a trade to get him.

New Orleans drafted him in the 2nd round (pick acquired from the Sixers), he chose not to sign there instead opted for France, then never played a game in France and turned up in the DL as a free agent. He's fair game to sign. He's too talented not to sign even at 5 foot nothing esp. for a team like us with a dire PG need.

You can't just pick up other team's 2nd round players that were not signed to contracts, thus why we had the draft rights to EURO players in the deal for Tyson Chandler

That is why I don't understand why you suggest bringing him up as picking him up for "FREE"

Unless a 2nd round pick signs a deal with the team that drafted them and then gets cut which I don't think was the case as he just joined the Pelican's "SUMMER LEAGUE"

On the Baywhawks nba.com site it lists Chris Smith as nba, on the Stampede's website that isn't there for Jackson so he maybe a free agent. I will check espn trade checker because I think he would show up there if they have his rights. If they don't Knicks need to sign this guy.

Jackson isn't on the roster on trade machine so I think he is a free agent.

Hadn't followed Curry but this post made me look into what he has been doing. Man among boys in the dleague. The Knicks need to sign one of these guys. They have a roster spot available with Chris. Get it done.

Agree now. But I think we are a lot more like Larry Brown flavor of the month guys. Some moves though seem more then obvious. How about undrafted Pressey playing his @ss off tonight. Knicks need to be open minded. What they are doing isn't working.

height is over rated, speed/quickness is our need and he has it with the ability to facilitate

Cp3 is a good defender, to efficiency player, TOP LEADERS in steals, and is "undersized"

Is Pierre Jackson Cp3, probably not, but he is more of a PG than Nate Robinson and is somewhere between Nate and Cp3's abilities and could be a solid NBA PG

Not sure about that. I think if teams don't sign guys and they play in Europe they retain their rights. I think if teams don't sign guys and they play in the dl they are free agents. I will research it more. It seems like you are circumventing the cap and roster number if you can draft guys, not sign them, have them play for your dleague team and retain their rights.

t actually gets a little more complicated. Jackson, who averaged 30.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in two wins over Bakersfield to begin his pro career, is still the property of the Pelicans, and not eligible to be called up by another NBA team.

New Orleans assumed Jackson would spend the season in France, rather than join a crowded backcourt situation, with Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon, Tyreke Evans, Brian Roberts, Anthony Morrow and Austin Rivers all ahead of him on the depth chart. The problem was, Jackson got homesick and decided to play this season in the NBA D-League. In order for an NBA team other than New Orleans to make a play for Jackson, it would have to trade for his rights.

Wow. Seems like away to manipulate the new cba. The Pelicans essentially have a 16 man roster.
