We can re do this franchise in 1.5years with the 2014 2015 drafts and free agency. We need to give up on the assertion the team as composed will work. We tried we had a good year but its over. Lets be smart and rebuild it quickly strategically ang logically
OK, what Star do we have to give them?
Realgm has a link. Not sure they would risk Melo walking with his opt out though.
I posted this in the Griffin thread- I'd like us to trade Melo to Clips, Griffin to Suns, and picks to us. Melo goes somewhere where he'll re-sign, Suns get what constitutes a 'star' these days (basically Amar'e II), and we get a big boost to rebuilding efforts and a monster trade exemption. Obviously our GM, Dolan, wouldn't accept picks though- he'd want Griffin.

I am really liking this idea! Depending on what we get back I would be all over this.

To fantasize a little bit. You know if we did do that deal, and did the Tyson to OKC deal for Perkins, we could load up on a nice amount of assets
I would look to dump Felton & Smith onto either one of those 3 teams even if I had to include Shump or Hardaway. Give me Perry Jones, 2014 and future pick. 2 of the highest picks from the suns in 2014 and what ever other little bit of assets we could collect.
Someone from inside Dolan's circle of trust would have to sell him on cap space netting him his star(Kevin Love) or multiple stars to go along with the picks multiple picks.

Plus we'd stink 2014-15, and we own our own pick, so that would add another high pick to our resume. We'd be very well set to attract FAs in 2015 then. This plan would only require one more bad season- it's a great opportunity!
They should have tried to get Rudy Gay
The only way I would approve of the knicks getting picks and rebuilding is if we get a REAL GM!
Melo and Fatton for OK4, Dragic, Len, All 3 1st Round Picks.
Let's do this!

Let's do something gosh darn it!!!
Then send Bargs, Pablo and Beno to Houston for Asik and Lin.

Lol! Stop with Lin. Guy is terrible. Thought people wanted to fix the team? In all seriousness, priority number 1 should be dumping Chandler before he gets hurt again while he still has value. Knicks would be the idiots to reward this guy for the one healthy year in Dallas.

Simply put, if we had Lin (or a PG with brains), we wouldn't be in this situation, even with Chandler out.
Have you forgotten how Lin guided a much lesser team? Intelligence will do that.
I would love to trade for him once again.
Anyway, I am for a rebuild but we are missing our lottery pick this year and in 2 years, so that is sort of a problem.
Does having cap space help us?

I think a lot of his early success came from taking advantage of players being lazy during the lockout. Made his career good for him. I agree with need a respectable PG. The biggest problem IMO is on the defensive end at point. Any respectable PG torches the Knicks. They have no shooters so even with a PG upgrade I think they'd still struggle as teams are packing it in defensively against them. You need to shoot them out of that.
We have no picks this year and in all likelihood the next couple of drafts will be weak after this year. I think they'd be best off trading Chandler and riding out Amare at this point. The team was poorly constructed. The Chandler contract made no sense. If the get a wing upgrade and cap relief via a Chandler trade they can at least be respectable in 2014 and then fill in with a star in 2015 when Amare expires. I personally think a complete purge is foolish as future drafts will probably be weak and the Knicks are poor at scouting/drafting.

In what world does Houston do that? Was this a joke? Bargs, Beno, and Pablo aren't even worth Asik with one arm tied behind his back.

Dolan isn't giving away Melo for anything. Dolan will give Melo full control over the team at the end of the year if he wants. lol. Funny but true.

They love Bargs down there. They think he is the perfect stretch 4.
