Knicks · Raps won again (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 1/1/2014 4:22 AM
Now 7 games back including head to head tie braker. First real separation of the season. Any worse than this by the halfway mark and the mathematical odds will be quite stacked against the knicks
Clean @ 1/1/2014 4:43 AM
once we got 10 games under .500 with no signs of improvement I knew making the playoffs would be a tall order.
smackeddog @ 1/1/2014 11:32 AM
I can save you the suspense: We aren't making the playoffs
gunsnewing @ 1/1/2014 11:49 AM
Do we have a lottery pick?

Yup. However, Denver happens to own it _if_ you want to get knit picky about it.

Thinking of who to select with our lottery pick is the only thing keeping me going!

What's that you say...?

gunsnewing @ 1/1/2014 12:04 PM
I'm so excited about potentially winning the lottery. I hope we draft wiggins, Parker, Smart or anyone of those cornerstone guys. This draft is DEEP! What a great year to tank!!

Good times are ahead fellas!

HAPPY KNICK YEAR!!!!!!

djsunyc @ 1/1/2014 12:49 PM
it's fun being a raptors fan right now. totally unexpected. 6-1 on the road since the rudy deal with wins @lakers, @chicago twice, @dallas, @okc and @knicks.

but big measuring stick test tonight with the pacers at home.

KEEPCAMBYNY @ 1/1/2014 2:08 PM
So the Raps finally have a chance to draft a franchise talent that actually wants to stay there (Wiggins) and you make the playoffs with a mediocre at best team? Their luck might be worse than the Knicks.
knicks1248 @ 1/1/2014 2:33 PM
rapts can easily lose 5 in a row

they are playing to win, not to lose... they have the knicks pick in 2016, I am sure they are banking on that.. they also have a very good GM.. I think they will be fine...

that's possibly true. we can easily join the tank race asap by dumping lowry but i trust ujiri. we could still trade into the draft b/c i bet a team like the cavs would trade their lotto pick for a guy like derozan on draft night.

but regardless, ujiri says he believes in karma and never wants to willingly lose.

plus, imho, i think wiggins would fail in toronto b/c there would be too much pressure. he is a little bit of a project and having the weight of the country on your shoulder is not really the most supportive environment to develop.

BRIGGS @ 1/1/2014 9:49 PM
Raps beat Pacers now have beaten OKC Dallas and Pacers in the last 2 weeks

We are 7.5 games out w tie braker I do not believe we can do better than 1-2 in the next 3 as well.

They are tight up the middle with Jonas V and Lowry--they have the foundation if a winner

the strange part is Rudy Gay has played VERY well for Sacremento--almost like if they had Gay theyd be an Eastern monster? Just shows how importnat chemistry and having the right pieces means ..

playa2 @ 1/1/2014 10:52 PM
Briggs I watch the game, they bought into what the coach was selling and Lowry is playing for big payday like JR did last yr.

Rudy cost them too much money, Toronto HATES paying players.

Star players need to see ownership pay star players, then maybe other players will sign there , not just castoffs.

Not sold yet on them, will watch the re-match next week tue in Indiana.

djsunyc @ 1/1/2014 10:59 PM
toronto hatees paying players? have you seen all the deals colangelo gave out?

we just can't attract big name talent in FA.

rudy was one of the most selfish players i've ever seen. he had to be removed but briggs, you are right, we are a sf playmaker away from being a serious threat. kevin durant in 16? :)

I would have no problems going without any superstars. I place a high value on players who will ALWAYS play hard and unselfishly. Teams where the scoring can come from anyone is hard to defend. You must also have a coach smart enough that he knows how and when to play the players to get the most out of them. The fact that I have seen lineups with Beno, Amare, Bargs and Melo sickens me. The fact that woody put out Beno, Bargs and Melo on a play when we just needed a defensive stop to win the game is just inexcusable.

smackeddog @ 1/2/2014 4:06 AM
Just beat the Pacers

Vmart @ 1/2/2014 10:11 AM
Addition by subtraction.

They need to trade Lowry before he ruins their draft chances.

Wow Landry Fields salary goes up to $8.5mil next season! Next year they'll be paying $16mil for Knick scrubs that aren't contributing (Camby, Fields and Novak), after that they just have Novak hogging $3.75mil- we gave up a 1st rounder and some second rounders to clear $3.75mil. Jesus! And likely the Nuggets and Knicks will stink that year, so the pick will be another goodie (at least it can't be the number 1!)

djsunyc @ 1/2/2014 11:02 AM
we are not trading lowry. we are going to see where this goes. tanking is now out of the window for this season. (we can still tank next year if we want to)

fields cap hit is $6.2 next year b/c of the CBA rules.

camby was bought out.

salmons and hansbrough have a $1 mil buyout each next year so in essence, they can be dealt as almost expiring contracts as soon as draft night.
