Considering the fact that Kmart, Tyson, and Stat, can't stay healthy for very long and we still have a little more than half a season left before the playoffs (assuming we make it) maybe we do. Some posters here thought signing Murry was a bad idea because of our glut at guard, but look at the role he has now.
Indy has maybe the best front line in the East, if not the league. Better safe than sorry IMO. Can't remember Mullens, getting old lol, but I don't believe its far fetched to believe that we may end up needing another big by the end of the season considering our history with injuries over the last few seasons.

He shot 32% from deep last year and 33% this year. Guys got range. I'm not sure why it seems so outlandish for me to say that. Save Bargs, none of our guys take 3 pointers.

How about we conclude: he is a career 40% shooter as a big man. He would get zero minutes with the likes of Chandler, Martin, Amare, Tyler, Bargs on roster. He is a downgrade as a player over any of those guys.

funny I had a list of free agents.. Mullens and Augusting were two guys I said would help this team and were signed for pennies... But all I heard was how great the beno/ bargnani pick and roll would be and how much of a great signing artest was... go figure.. not saying that you said this... just adding my two cents, since you mentioned Mullens..

The only guys left that fit the criteria of "offensive bench player (at the 4/5 spot)" is Amar'e and Jeremy Tyler; and Jeremy Tyler has not demonstrated anything as a NBA player and Amar'e Stoudemire is spending almost as much time on the bench, as he does off of it. And I never suggested that Mullens was a good offensive player but the guy at his size, is better than what we got . He can shoot the ball, which may be his only skill but it is still more than the vast majority of our big man platoon can do. I stand by my statement.

And as I've said, if Amar'e is the best we got coming off the bench as a big, we need all the help that's available.
For the record, none of this is a celebration of Bryon Mullens' ability as much as it is an indictment of this team and the shitty talent we've got. I'm NOT a fan of Mullens (that is basketball-wise; as a person, he seems like a good, conscientious dude). At the same time, I'm also not a fan of our supporting cast around Melo.

His current figures are nearly identical to his career numbers. He just had a helluva run last season that broke this trend.
Great, Mullens in his spot garbage time that has possibly inflated his offensive stats, or Mullens the starter on a Charlotte team that marked the worst or second worst records in the entire league, can shoot the 3 point shot a bit better than the norm for a center and so inflates is eFG%.
I get the feel that Doc Rivers will play him shortly, but for the depth of PF/C's on that team - the whole of Antawn Jamison and Ryan Hollins - for his offensive prowess.
