Papabear Says
I think that Melo is a very good player and at one time a true Super Star in this league. The pressure in New York and the injury of Amare has put Melo's future in question. Melo is missing shots by the ton. Everyone he is playing with is a second string player and not a starter. No one will offer Melo 20 million per year. Number 1 he needs the ball and he have no confidence of the players around him. This team stinks from the coach down to the last player.
I think the one thing to consider with this stuff is that the GMs know much more than we do. There could be underlying situations or some talk among players and coaches that we'll never know. Whether that effects any decision a GM makes depends on what the talk is behind the scenes.
One team will offer him more than $20mil per
Care to guess which team that is?
I will give you a hint...

If they had a few decent players besides Melo they'd be good. Everybody believes Love is worth the money, right? We are lining up to max him out yet his roster is better and guess what...they such too. Looking at salaries from around the league Melo really wouldn't be offered less than that.

Maybe you are right but I think the days ahead are very dark. This team is not giving up though. They just don't have the talent. They are becoming the laughing stock of the NBA.

The Lakers won't offer him 20 mil? The Nets won't if they could?

Of course they would and u know what...Melo would be an idiot not to take it. Can't put a price on sanity. Why stick around for this crap?

or maybe if we actually had one great player and leader we would be good as well..
Melo's new nickname: H20 part 2!

LeBron left Cleveland bc his team sucked. He decided to play with the best SG in the league and a top 5 PF at the time. Clearly the best player in the league and pretty much everybody else disagrees with u on the one guy thing.
It's funny how playing here torpedoes your career,
No player in their right mind would sign for us and that's why our roster is full of tools

so why do you blame Melo? The problems were here when he showed up, not after.

Guns has a point,
And it's also not at I blame any one person
Moo because of his status and partly because of the way he came, he is the light Inge rod
That comes with the territory of being a max cat
It goes the other way too if a team is successful.
It's not unfair to go hard at melo, among other key characters in this circus

no, as great as lebron is, I don't think it is fair to say his team that made it to the finals.. Sucked..
He left to stack the deck in miami.. It worked, but he also lost some respect for that... but in the end, he got his rings..
But his team didn't SUCK...

clearly you have no understanding of what I am saying.. I never , ever believed in the one guy thing.. especially if you are trying to win a ring.. my point is, it may be fair to say add a better player and leader to this group and we probably are better.. not championship better, but better... knicks fans are now in spin mode.. everyone sucks, except poor carmelo who has been playing his ass off... I mean Please.. enough of that..

I agree with the Cleveland finals team comment. Also think they would have got past Boston the year they lost to them in ECF but the refs really hosed Cleveland in that series. They surrounded him with role players that made sense. As a team, they played well. It was media perception that the teammates were garbage and it was just Lebron. While LeBron is the best player in the league, others have to contribute or your not going anyway.
I assumed that is what you meant from some of your other posts. I honestly think the roster is so poor as a collective whole that a one player swap, unless it was for LeBron wouldn't help us much. It's almost unbelievable how bad the guard play on this team is. Melo is a volume shooter and leads in 3 point % by a wide margin over our guards that log heavy minutes. And many of those are low percentage shots relative to his teammates. I do qustion the effort of some of the key players that the Knicks were banking, but effort isn't the real problem. Poor roster construction is.

what was your expectation? Its not enough that he plays well? He's responsible for how well other's play?

was he responsible for JR's suspension? Or him shootinh 35% since he's been back? Was he responsible for JR winning 6th man last year? Just curious as to how much responsibiliy Melo has here.
I mean, I do agree some players can elevate the play of others. For some players (PGs) its their primary job. Is that EVERY player's job? If everyone does their job dont they ALL elevate each other's play? I mean no matter how much you pay em its still just one guy...
