Knicks · how do you win when your backcourt is giving up 16.5ppg a night (page 3)

Murry is not an NBA PG. Not yet. If you want to run NBDL players out there your going to get NBDL results.

the Knicks have enough fresh legs... they need a head. They need a floor general.

Woody isnt the leader. We need someone on the floor who can drive the ship. Kidd did that to star last year, set the tone and it stuck. MSG thought Prigs and Felton could do the same and they were sorely mistaken.

Remember when we were waiting on Barron Davis and Toney Douglas was going to hold it down? Well he didnt. You can "hold down" most any position in the NBA if your surrounded by talent EXCEPT PG.

I don't think our pg defense is as bad as some make it out to be but they are slow as shit and produce nothing on offense. Defensively the team is just fundamentally broken. Either the help doesn't come or it comes from the wrong place.

So I poked around, because I wanted to know just how bad our backcourt has been and I found this:

Knicks guards:
Get outrebounded
Get out assisted
Are less efficient then their opponents
get outscored

I mean... across the board from points, rebs, assists, PER, literally every stat or category they get out played (usually by alot) EVERY night.

The only thing they arent geting abused on is TOs, overall the opposing guards turn it over 1.5 a game more.

A team can't win when they handicap the game like this at the start every night. Hahn said last night that he has talked to scouts and that opposing teams know to go at the Knicks point guards. Also, until JR finally found his shot again the Knicks were getting crushed at the two guard spot. Not sure what Shump has to do to get himself anchored to the bench but he certainly isn't adding much if anything to the team. However, struggling this much in the back court and choosing not to address it is just ridiculous. If some package of Tyson/Shump and possibly Felton, Beno, Metta, etc for an upgrade it seems like the team has to do it. I agree with some that have said trading Tyson might be a sign to Melo that the Knicks aren't planning on competing but I think if they can get any player that is close to functional at the point and maybe something else they should do it. Tyson needs to be moved anyway in my opinion.

Chandler might be one of the few assets that can bring us back PG help. One of the contending teams must have a second string PG ready for more responsibilities. After seeing Chandler's performance, Melo can't believe that Chandler is bringing that much to the table. If anything, it might show Melo that they are serious about improving.
