The fields and frye comparisons are laughable. There will always be a place in the NBA for a guard like Tim Hardaway Jr

If we could do this and give up JR and keep Shump and THJ with either Lowry or Lin or even Teague I guess at the point I would be estatic

andboth were totally untouchable. Do you not remember how Field's was coveted around here? Was Novak not a good shooter for us?

THjr has a nice skill. Being able to run an offense is an even nice skill.

Right now THjr is golden because he plays just little enough to not make any big mistakes, but he's had his off games too, and look at his 82games stats. Opposing guards are killing him.

I like THrj and view him as a nice piece, but if he gets us a nicer piece see ya. Lowry is worth it. Teague is not.

Not me. Both those guys where flawed. Tim hardaway does one thing well SHOOT. The game is about putting the ball in the hole.

Fields and frye didn't excel at any key aspect of the game of basketball

Frye could and still can shoot the crap out of it. Novak couldnt miss. Then folks adjusted. Then what happened?

Its a lot easier to look really good in 15 minutes then 30.

right now THjr shoots. He doesnt defend. He doesnt make plays. He doesnt rebound. He doesnt handle the ball. Can those improve? Of course.. but we are not sitting on a blue chip here. We could be looking at the next Hubert Davis. Easily. Tell me one thing you see about Hardaway Jr that Hubert Davis didnt show.

A shooter who hits 40% of his 3s and 50+ of his 2s as a rookie is quite rare. You have to factor in how valuable it is to have 4 years of a very productive player on a dirt cheap (in nba terms) salary. I'm not saying you can't trade him but it's gotta be for something outstanding. There's too much of a risk that Lowry is just doing this in a contract year and will return to being a slightly above average PG next year but on a $60 mil contract.

Hubert was a spot up shooter. Never saw him run the floor and throw it down with athleticism

There is a difference between Hardaway and Novak/Fields/frye. Those three players were spot up shooters that were not effective running off screens like Hardaway Can. SO that sets him apart from them and then you must add in his ability to finish on the break and the ability to attack a closeout. Now does that make him untouchable, for the right price, no but Teague and Lowry are not the right price because they are not elite players at their positions so you will need a collection of talent around them like a Hardaway.

Exactly. I don't see why THJ would have to be included in a deal for Lowry or Teague. I prefer jr but am open to trading Shumpert. This would be typical Knicks. Fix PG and then have a gapping hole at shooting efficiency again

If THJ was like Hubert Davis. Strictly a spot up shooter like Novak I would have no problem losing him. Those guys are replaceable for dirt cheap deals

He's really good right now because nobody cares. Just like when nobody cared about Novak and he was this epic gem. Then the NBA learned and adjusted. Nobody is adjusting to THjr right now because his impact to games is a non factor right now. When his shooting starts wining games for the Knicks as Novak's did then you will see the adjustements.

THrj contributes, and for a late first rounder thats GREAT. He's a looooooong way from being an impact player, and has some holes in his game that one could argue he will never be an impact player in the NBA. Lowry is an impact player. Not sure why this is so hard to see....

Lowry is an established commodity. It takes pieces to get him and he's worth resigning.

and they sure as hell dont have PGs who cant run an offense and get scored by 17ppg a night.

THrj hasnt shown a thing yet that puts him in the same class as the players you mention. Its a massive stretch at this point and wishful thinking

Jeff Teague does make me curious though. Is this the perfect time to get a player while his stock is down? But why is he having a down year? Why has his shooting numbers gone down from 2 and 3 the last 3 years. Before this year he was on the Lowry career path number wise in a lot of areas. Teague maybe breakout like Lowry and Dragic did as they goy older. If the knicks can get Teague at a lesser price than Lowry I would trade for him if it doesn't include THJR and an unprotected 2018 pick.

Teague would help us because he creates on offense. He can score and push it. He would be a good fit for when we go small and push it. He's great in space.

He's also been paid, and not worth giving up a pick or THjr. Shump, Felton... fine. Teague is a gamble. Maybe he fits. Maybe he's Bargs v2.0. Lowry is the prize.... pay to get him and sign him. He's a build around player. Teague is complimentary scorer who sometimes looks good running an offense. Like Eddie House if he ever learned to play some point

Teague is an example of a good player that got paid, and now his team isnt quite so sure he's worth the cash. Thats a spare parts swap. Lowry is a guy who can lead a team. He's the right age and experience to take the next step. He's a guy you pay to get. If that means burning losing Shump and THjr fine. We can NOT compete in the NBA with Felton/JR/Prigs/THjr rotating at guard. Lowry/JR/Prigs is an immediate upgrade. Dont love having to rely on JR, but having a real floor general should improve his play as well

Agreed 100% w/ the need for a floor general, but you'd really be OK w/ giving up both Shump and THJ for a guy who may bolt after he gets us into the back end of the playoff seeding? I say no thanks.

Even if Lowry came here and then resigned, he has a history of injuries just like every other Knick. I'd prefer they look hard at Rubio, dangling THJ to Minny (w/ Felton to make it work).
