Knicks · Knicks interested in Jeff Teague (page 5)

Right now THjr is golden because he plays just little enough to not make any big mistakes, but he's had his off games too, and look at his 82games stats. Opposing guards are killing him.
I like THrj and view him as a nice piece, but if he gets us a nicer piece see ya. Lowry is worth it. Teague is not.
really no one on this team should be untouchable.. IF THJ can help get us a piece we need to move forward then I am all for it.. we have a lot of holes to fill.. I am not the biggest fan of TEague at all, nice player, but I rather wait and shop a bit more..I like Lowry, but we had a chance at him earlier.. I am afraid the price this time around with toronto will be even higher.. maybe too high...
Agreed 100% w/ the need for a floor general, but you'd really be OK w/ giving up both Shump and THJ for a guy who may bolt after he gets us into the back end of the playoff seeding? I say no thanks.
Even if Lowry came here and then resigned, he has a history of injuries just like every other Knick. I'd prefer they look hard at Rubio, dangling THJ to Minny (w/ Felton to make it work).
hawks matched the sheet b/c they didn't want to lose him for nothing. now the hawks are hurt and are reeling so ferry is quickly shifting gears. so if he can move teague's deal, he can go ahead and tank next season as he also has millsap's friendly deal to move on draft night as well.

That's the Lowry of this year. The previous years he was just an average PG. The numbers in a contract year scare me off. I do like he can play more off the ball as oppose to Teague who is seemingly struggling play more off the ball this year. I really do not worry about the contract if the player is playing at league avg. It just when they dip below that, which can happen.
If Felton and Shump gets you Teague and THjr, 2018, and etc get you Lowry I would take a risk on Teague. I doubt Teague numbers won't improve playing with Chandler in the PnR. He is also a good two-way player at point that has a very good stl and blk rates. My fears would be his 3pt shooting and finishing. A synergy profile would help shed some light. His player tracking data FG% on drives look terrible this year but that's just from 20 to 10 ft.
Before this year would people have taken a chance on Teague a 6 mil. per? Worst case use the stretch provision in the summer of 15 to get his cap hit a little less than 2 mil.

I view him as a core piece. A main guy with Melo who you start putting role players around because a guy like Lowry fills out the stat sheet every night, he defends at a high level and Toronto is in a tough spot. They have a hard time keeping players there and he's the reason they are playing so well.
Suddenly with Lowry in the mix Chandler at center looks a lot better also. Also takes the ball out of Melo and JR's hands. You have a real floor general... less of this walk it up ISO bull crap that is all our current PGs can manage w/o dribbing off their feet

Rubio is only 23 and while his shot has been bad, I don't think it's far fetched to assume it'll get better. The guy can play D and run an offense. His value has taken a severe hit, which is why I think the Knicks should try and buy low rather than giving up multiple assets for a 28 yr old Lowry.
Agree w/ everything you said about Lowry, especially him possibly becoming another Billups. Just wouldn't like watching Uriji have his way w/ Knicks brain trust bc he promised Jimmy a headlining gig @ Air Canada Centre.

I think Minn still views Rubio as a franchise QB that they used a top pick on. Dont you think he's going to cost more or as much as Lowry?

I compared THJ to Ray Allen and H2O. That's right this guy is the best finisher the team has on fast breaks and has a knack for drawing contact and finish his shot with a good attempt. I want a PG also but I would attempt to go another route like D league or Bobby Brown. Lowry is playing for a contract and that is a big red flag to me. Teague I like but only if the Knicks can move Felton and Shump two players that I feel are hurting the Knicks and are in need of a scenery change.

Right now THjr is a shooter who has shown zero ability to contribute in any other way. No rebs. No passes. No defense. He has not even shown flashes.

I remember years ago on realgm I was going crazy over lowry.. I always thought he was a good player, not the most skilled, but he always played with a high motor.. He seems to play a tough organized street game... and it works.. He surely would be an upgrade over what we have... call me crazy, but had we kept lin, it would have been interesting to see he and lowry log some minutes in the back court.. both guys tend to play a game that is hard to predict and defend....

What big pieces? Rondo is about to be traded. Frankly don't want him. Love to Lakers. Aldridge staying in Portland and Kyrie isn't available in 2015.
This is why you might have to consider trading Melo
This isn't the 2010 free agent class with Lebron.
I don't see Lebron leaving Miami. If he does it's back to Cleveland with Kyrie

Do you not remember what happened last time we had a losing team? Not only do you LOSE constantly but you cant even properly guage your talent because of the losing.
Do you not remember David Lee's 20ppg 12rebs and 55% shooting in his contract year? Folks around here were desperate to get rid of him because he didnt defend, padded his stats and those great #s didnt translate to wins. Guess what? He's pretty good after all.
Melo isnt getting traded, so just let that go.

I am right. The Knicks were able to get a good PG this way or have forgotten Lin. There are PGs out there that are way better than Felton it's just up to Knicks management to get them. They chose poorly last year or they just chose Beno who doesn't seem to fit in the Woodson defensive scheme of switching. With that said Knicks could easily have worked themselves into the Bledsoe deal by trading Shump. There will be deals available Knicks need to keep the eyes open and choose wisely. Once again Collison was available also.
The Knicks biggest problem is that they don't trust their development system to produce a good PG or they automatically assume they got crap and that goes for all the young players.
