I voted the same, but will hope against hope that someone of substance will want to come here and Melo will take even less than my vote to make it happen.I believe Melo has enough brain matter to realize the end of those knees is near. Playing in Houston or in LA without Blake or D'andre is not getting him a ring. Kobe is toast. And just about anywhere else is more of a pipedream than NYC.
He will make his bed here, and PJax is smart enough to know that 68 + 5 year plan does not equate to a great exit legacy with this owner and no experience at draft building. He needs Melo and Melo needs him for this to work for either one of them.

replacing melo's type of production is like addition through subtraction. he makes others around him worse and is a miserable failure in the playoffs. so removing him should not be as big of a problem as you are making it out to be.

he does not mesh well with others, never has. the entire time he has been here has been an attempt to cater to his one alleged "strength," namely scoring. he is not a complete player and as such makes others around him worse because he does not do anything else well enough to make up for his way of scoring. it's not THAT he scores but HOW he scores that has always been the problem.jackson may find a way to teach an old dog new tricks and i will leave that for him to decide, especially if melo is serious about winning in new york and by serious i mean remains a knick at a substantial discount.

you make it out like i think melo is a bad player. he isn't-- he's just overrated. now if he could play consistently then he wouldn't be overrated. if he had a better balance of usage to assist rate he wouldn't be overrated. but out of all his so-called peers his numbers flag. if he gave consistent effort every game on the defensive end he would not be overrated. he is more than a notch below his so-called peers there too. if he had poise he would not be overrated. if he went to the line over ten times a game he would not be overrated. if he led his teams in hustle stats he would not be overrated.
but he doesn't do any of these things consistently-- so he is overrated. he does just well enough to make all-star teams and get his teams into the playoffs. but beyond that he has been very very bad. who knows... maybe phil jackson sees more potential in melo to develop than i do. i trust his judgement more than my own. where i will probably take issue is how much money jackson decides to pay melo. melo was vastly overpaid the first go round with the knicks.
in a results-oriented business you and many others have set the bar way too low with your expectations.
most statisticians do not like melo's game for the simple reason that in most advanced stats areas he simply fails. if you look at his career in the playoffs the advanced stats pretty much mirror his failures. his one success was with billups and his advanced stats in the playoffs with billups were acceptable.
the nba allstar game is in fact a popularity context. you look foolish touting this as some sort of accomplishment. and paul george is closer to being a complete player, an all-round player, an all-nba player than carmelo anthony. if you want to argue that point go right ahead.
he's about to turn 24.
An NBA coach who disagrees point blank is a tool. Color commentators are not. Check.
Results matter, but all star games and the playoffs are not results. Check.
He doesn't go to the line enough, when every idiot covering every game on TV and radio are in lockstep that he never gets the calls necessary to go to the line 10 times a game. Even the non-homer-at-all-costs ESPN broadcast crowd. This, of course, is Melo's own fault because he plays "bully ball".
He has the raw assist numbers to rank #10 among small forwards, but that's not good enough because his "peers" have better advance stats.
He leads the league in minutes, but obviously spends most of that time sleeping on the sidelines and chucking up 40 footers.
He's padding his stats for the entire season for his contract year, but he doesn't show any consistent effort. Amazing how that works. I guess we are witinessing George McGinnis 2 here.
His only measurable result(s)is completely due to Chauncey Billups. Or Alan Iverson. Or JKidd. Or Rasheed Wallace. Or more recently, JR and Stat. Check.
He has no:
Poise (despite being one of the best clutch performers in the history of the game)
Effort (despite being on the floor more than anyone in the league, because this obviously part of his greedy scheme to make more money by wearing his knees and shoulder out)
Love from most statisticians. A key component to being a great basketball player.
He's overpaid in a league where a two-week wonder who couldn't show up to the playoffs for two out of three seasons is making upwards of $20 mil. Check.
Melo doesn't suhuck, he's just very, very bad. Check.
