I voted 14-17
dk7th @ 3/29/2014 11:41 PM
of course i vote based on karma: 12-14 million gives him the best possible chance of retiring a champion! a winner! he'll be a made man like mr. frazier, phil simms, eli manning, mark messier, joe namath, derek jeter, thurman munson.

It's a great quote nonetheless.
I put $12 to 14 mil.

"a player is good at one price and bad at another."

Thats donnie's way of distancing himself from the trade and eventually led to his departure.

Donnie may of sucked, but thats just fans laying blame on him, and countless others in hope there replacement is a means to success.

Woodson is next up.

18-6
54-28

and now with a clumsy roster its time to put him on the chopping block!

Phil's hiring and cultural enema on a team needing an overhaul thru out is justifiable to make many changes, including coach.

We all know why the knicks have had personal problems for years. Blame a clumsy process. Donnie tried, Grunwald was castrated, Isiah was evil, Layden was emasculated, and Checketts was ousted. Blame the process of an ignorant owner who equates solid revenue due to a great building and swelled popluation to success on the court.

Yes, Donnie Walsh was not the problem, I don't think anyone is saying he is, he just wasn't the solution. Essentially he didn't do anything to plug an already sinking ship. So he isn't to blame, but he doesn't deserve any of the praise people throw at him as a franchise changer.

Signing D'Antoni was the beginning of the end of Donnie Walsh in NY. That was his first big mistake. He sucked.

Interesting results. I'm impressed that most of the board has him in the $12-17 mil range.

It doesn't look like most of the board is participating.
Bonn1997 @ 3/30/2014 8:15 PM
You're right - most of the voters. I don't think any poll actually gets most of the board.

ok Who were the 2 who voted for the Supermax?

See that's what I don't like, I get tired of people taking shots at Jrod.

its a stupid poll. No reality in basis. Melo wont get paid what anyone *thinks* they deserve. Except for a couple guys in the league about every owner and every GM wishes their roster made less.

The contracts these guys sign are usually the # that the team has set where they cant afford to let that player walk for nothing.

The reason talent gets overpaid is because teams cant afford to lose it. Better to have Melo at $20 then let him walk and lose him for nothing because you think $16mm is all he is "worth"

I was listening to Michael Kay and Don Lagrecca(sp? Friday and I thought Don nailed it. He understood the sentiment of starting over, but the thing he kept coming back to (which I agree with) is when Melo walks your back to looking for an all star, all NBA type guy to start building around... or a great scorer who can go get you buckets.

Talent is the big commodity in the NBA. You dont just let $20mm of it walk and think you can go out and get that back when you need it.

Yeah, especially since I voted 20-24. But then, that's Bonn. His troll-guard business is apparently wearing thin.

Melo will get what the market will bear. If he wants to win, he will compromise.

The truth will present itself at the right time.

Im not worried about LA, Im worried about Houston and Chicago. Especially Chicago.

Melo, Rose, Noah as a core.

sure but Chi needs a lot of help, same with Houston. I think actually Pho has a good shot.

Im not worried about Chi/Hou because those are S&T scenarios where we get players and picks back

It's gotten as much participation as most polls do. No one said that Dolan will pay Melo what posters here think he deserves. If all we can do is list what Dolan will do, every thread should be about maxing out the next player who has microfracture surgery.

"no reality in basis" what does this even mean

it is moronic to talk about money to the exclusion of anything else, especially winning.

what part of cost versus value do you not comprehend?

or have you already concluded that with melo it remains all about money?
