Knicks · One thing that really impresses me about Tyson's game... (page 1)

Is his ability to guard smalls. Everytime I see him get drawn out to the 3 point line because he's guarding a small on a switch I cringe. Then the guy goes into his moves, takes it to the hole and smack Tyson blocks it. I dont think Ive ever seen a big that guards smalls as well as he does.

Wish he could guard bigs.

haha, OK that is funny and I kind of agree that Tyson should be a better defender but I give him a small pass for 1 reason: he has ZERO help from the PF and/or SF positions that should also help in rotating and covering from weak side. Melo/Amare (do Knicks have any other PFs not call KMart?) freakin SUCK at rotating when Tyson leaves his man to cover for our guards.

Think about Gerald Wallace or Sheed back in the day or Ibaka, PFs who help off their man; Knicks don't have that.

I see. But's its not just his rotations. Why is it that a DPOY cannot guard anyone in the post without requiring help/double team. It boggles my mind!

I hate to say this but lately it looks like Amare may be playing even better than Tyson - DID I JUST SAY THAT?

The overall rotations have been better lately.

there are like 2 guys who can really defend good post scorers 1-1. Its just too hard.

Don't worry Kevin Love is on the way!

I can't? He is tall. Rebounds ok, can dunk if he catches the ball, can actually shoot the 15-20 but chooses not to.

Great locker room presence, great signing. Very deserving DBOY (over Ibaka and James). Nice to make the all defense team that year. Oh ... what was that? He didn't make the bloody team? How can that be? He was the phucking DPOY.

Plays healthy in all important games and shares fevers, herpes and shivers with the team on a weekly basis.

Whats there not to love?

Bonn1997 @ 4/3/2014 12:27 PM
LOL - no one said you had to love him!

Efficiency wise, he is great so I am sure that you love him

Bonn1997 @ 4/3/2014 12:48 PM
Love? No. I've called him (and all our other veterans) overpaid plenty of times.

ok. Thought that maybe you overvalued his efficiency.

Bonn1997 @ 4/3/2014 1:24 PM
No, I don't overvalue anything

have you seen him guard jarret jack?

What really impresses me about Tyson is he makes these big bluster statements that are the complete opposite of the way he has played- it's like he has no sense of shame! After saying how we just had to fight our way to the playoffs, he had what, 5 points and 4 rebounds last night? I don't hate him, in fact I used to like him, but this season it's been hard not to dislike him...

be fair... did you see the game last night? With the exception of Shump's 5 steals neither of those two had impressive stat lines but both were definatly high impact.

Not the biggest Tyson fan, but it was good to see him having a nice impact on the game.

He did, but I was hoping for more than a nice impact from him- he looked ready to beast before he broke his leg. Since then he hasn't really played consistently well.
