It would be nice if the NBA suspended Sterling from the team like MLB did to Marge Schott. I agree with Sterling's right free speech, but this is embarrassing. Mark Cuban has been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for saying things that aren't nearly as offensive. Yet no one bats a friggin' eyelash when Sterling says this crap. Sterling is a virulent racist and I would think the league's owners are embarrassed by it.
Not defending Sterling at all but Cuban was usually fined for criticizing the NBA (still think that's stupid). Sterling was having what he thought was a private conversation with his very hot gf. The NBA probably will do something because of the backlash though. Anything to stop them from losing money.
His thought process has been exposed like never before, and the same girl he calls a friend put him on world wide blast, CNN and ESPN will run this story for a good while.
I'm trying to make sense of why would his GF do that, he's set to lose millions
Sterling probably dumped her a while ago. I suspect that she purposely waited until the playoffs to release the tapes, in an attempt to maximize the stories coverage. Sterling's no good egg but she is no better. She knew the man she was dating and now is going to play the "woe is me; I'm the victim" card and get some exposure for herself. I wouldn't be surprised if we find her writing a tell-all book and/or getting a reality TV show if Sterling doesn't pay her hush money.
He said he is not racist but seems afraid of backlash from family and his super secret club of archaic racists either that or he feels being seen with black men makes her look trashy. The funny thing is the fact that she was seen with a lake doesn't bother him. He really dug himself a huge hole

He's an old man, who probably can't get it up anymore. All he's worried about is a dude fucking her, particularly a black dude because of the stereotypes. Listening to him, he doesn't sound like a Klan member, more like a guy who doesn't want to look stupid by having a girlfriend of his sleeping with men he thinks of as being inferior. He's definitely racist but I think his sexual insecurities play a bigger role here, which I suppose any of us can identify with on some level or another.
@Narddog it's not just about his gf having sex with a black dude, he's been a part of many racial scandals. He's a piece of shit and his gf is trash too, any girl that allows herself to get porked by a goblin-looking fat racist slimeball as long as he buys her nice things is not a high charcter person.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. Like I said, he's very much a racist; I just think his girlfriend getting fucked by 6"8' Magic Johnson and his ebony dong is more of a concern for him than anything else. He never said it outright but the panic in his voice and him telling her she could "fuck whoever she wanted" after he had been exasperated by the conversation, leads me to think that this was the case. Just put yourself in his shoes for a second. The guy was born and breed to think that the color of his skin made him better to those with more pigment. Now imagine one of those dudes, especially one at 6"8', dipping into a woman he very much knows is with him for the money. That has to be damaging to him at his core.

Who will say it? Have people said that? If not you have some explaining to do.

I am confused as to why there is a link to a thread about PJax's press conference in a thread about Sterling and racism.
the dude has been a known racist... the NBA should have done something when elgin Baylor brought this issue to the forefront years ago.. Baylor a FORMER NBA great, and respected exec put this clown on blast, and the NBA did basically nothing...

He's referring to papas comments. Kinda irrelevant to this though.
Some old people have no filter. He's living in another world. He seems to be reaching his expiration date anyway
Why is Silver waiting until later to hold a conference on NBATV instead of just issuing the punishment?
I'd imagine they need confirmation it was him and that can take a few days. Better to diffuse this over the weekend otherwise media and national backlash will be tremendous
He's doing it tonight though
Good. He's handling it appropriately then
http://www.tmz.com/2014/04/26/doc-rivers...Black or white ... doesn't matter -- Clippers head coach Doc Rivers says every one of his players is angry about Donald Sterling's racist comments and how it could affect them in the NBA Playoffs.
Doc called the team's playoff appearance as a "dream" for his players and emphasized that Donald Sterling had "nothing to do" with them making it this far.
The coach spoke to TMZ Sports before a team practice in San Fran and admitted it was going to be very difficult to get them focused for tomorrow's game against the Golden State Warriors -- but he added, "My job is to try to lead them" through this distraction.
Doc also said none of his players, regardless of race, are happy about Sterling's comments, telling us ... "J.J. Redick is as pissed as Chris Paul."
We asked Doc if Sterling had addressed the team directly yet -- he told us he can't concern himself with what Sterling is doing
As for Magic Johnson calling for Sterling to be removed -- Doc pled the 5th, and walked away.
Video to come ...

Not sure but I believe it is Woodson's first night on NBATV. I wonder what he will have to say.

Please stop with your obviously silly and purposefully aimed comments in order to create something out of nothing. It's getting tiresome and i believe Martin already asked you once.
I listened to the audio on TMZ. I agree with the sentiments. Just deplorable. Hopefully the actions of one jackass don't cloud the terrific NBA playoffs we're having. Wonder what the penalty will be. I'm guessing a lengthy suspension and tremendous fine.
smackeddog wrote:He's disgusting, and has a long history of being disgusting- thats why when people say Dolan is the worst owner in the NBA, I think they must have weird values.
Yes, we have weird values. When you watch a Knicks game, you must NOT care if Knicks win or lose then. Worst person may be Donald Sterling, but Jimmy Dol IS the worst owner period. Not sure why you took a jab at us like that, unless you work for Jimmy Dol, then I totally understand.
Donald Sterling has been known to be a racist by the LA community. I hope now Baylor can reopen his case and finally get justice. When I watched Baylor struggling on TV to explain his situation, I felt sorry for the guy but thought the jury must be right since it was a very well selected jury, but hopefully now Baylor can get some justice.

Didn't Baylor lose his court case though? What was the evidence that he presented that was so damning? Not that i think Sterling is innocent nice guy, but was there really enough to go on to punish him over the Baylor age discrimination situation?
