Knicks · My bet is Kerr takes GS job. (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 5/7/2014 9:21 AM
Its west coast and they have a good team in place. I'm sure NY can throw more money at Kerr but I doubt that will be a deciding piece. I think the only way Kerr comes here now is if he is dead set working with PJ.
franco12 @ 5/7/2014 9:32 AM
I suspect your right- but does golden state bring in another fresh first time head coach after what they went through with MJ?
CrushAlot @ 5/7/2014 9:34 AM
I think Kerr comes to NY
Vmart @ 5/7/2014 9:35 AM
I don't see the warriors as being a better team. I know they made the playoffs and all but if you look at the Knicks objectively and see the talent you will see that the Knicks are on par with GS. The Knicks had a down year last year and this is on the players and coach for not being ready. The weakest position on the Knicks was and still is PG a decent PG and the Knicks are in better shape. If Woodson uses Amare better during the course of the year the Knicks would have won more.

What does GS have over the Knicks? Curry = Melo, Thompson is good but I can see night where JR is on par. Lee is a plus but if Amare plays the way he did towards the end of the season I don't see much of an advantage there. If you watched the Knicks this year you will see that there was things missing and that was a system and a PG. that's why I don't think the GS job is all that much better than the Knicks besides on the Knicks Kerr only has to increase on 37 wins on GS he has to win 50+.

It's easy to be down on the Knicks I am with you on that. These Knicks have shown that they can not be relied upon to show for next year. I hear and understand you, but with that said add a legit PG to the mix and a system to fall back on and I assure that once next year is finished the Knicks will have made the playoffs going into a FA period and draft looking more positive than the GS situation.

I sure hope not because that would mean that we probably starphucked

As it stands now, GS is a much better team than us. They also faced the clippers who are a champion caliber team.

VMart - please do not judge the Knicks future in a vacuum. The only team in the east we are better than is the Sixers.

Toronto, New Jersey and Washington have left us gasping for air.

Catching up is never easy. Where is that LEGIT (dominant Damian Lillard type) point guard coming from?

Every year is a different entity. There are always players out there. I am confident that Phil Jackson will find the right PG to play in his system. You don't need a Lillard type PG you need a PG that plays a system and does the necessary things to help the team win. Defense, hit the open shot make the pass that leads to a pass. That was the type of PG Kidd is and that is the type of PG that Jackson has always had. See Harper, Paxson, Fischer, Armstrong numbers were never gaudy but they got the job done.

No way relationship to phil>>>> than talent of GS

If that happens it would be like when Phil dropped the Knicks for Lakers. I wouldn't fault Kerr in that regards.

How could he have used Amare Better? He was out of shape (rested to heal), and looked awful early when he did return.

In principle I kind of think the Knicks are not as bad and don't think GS is a good as maybe their expectations are.

I'd like to see MDA get the gig actually. Its not for love of him, but that team could do very well in the "System". Bogut health is a wild card.

The love for Kerr is a bit dumbfounding but it is what it is. We'll know soon enough.

Stan Van in GS or Lakers. I don't put much cred in Kerr to Lakers for many reasons. Mainly snatching him from Phil would be poor manners by Jennie but given proximity to San Diego it has to resonate with Kerr. That team is a mess and unless he knows the draft pick order he really can't gauge. When are the ping pong balls picked?

Utah wants kerr as well and while a challange, its a rebuilding team and if he wins there he can run for Gov. of Utah!

Kerr has dragged his feet perhaps waiting for the GS job to open?

djsunyc @ 5/7/2014 10:24 AM
does kerr want to be micromanaged and basically be a face for phil or does kerr want to be his own man?

with that said, gsw would be stupid to go with a rookie coach when they are trying to win a title.

Is Jax out because West wants to micromanage? At least with Phil, Kerr has a guy that he has a relationship with and knows he will be supported and defended. Not sure what the situation is in golden state. I don't think Jax or the Warriors look good right now.

You make a great point. Look for GS to look into Larry Brown someone who has won a championship in the past.

Why does GS want Kerr? Just because the owners read we were interested in him? There are better coaches out there- this bidding war for Kerr is a joke!

I agree.....This is why Kerr hasn't committed yet. He knew the GS situation. He has people in that organization that he used to work with. But I think the deal breaker is going to be the owner. He has a great relationship with GS owner and the micromanagement of Dolan is well documented. He also has phill as a mentor for life, regardless of his decision. I'm the biggest knick fan around, but if I was Kerr, this is an easy decision. NY can make or brake your career. GS is a little safer if he fails. Both jobs would be a great learning experience. Failing in GS is like Landing on a soft pillow. Fail in ny is like Landing on hard bricks.

Nalod @ 5/7/2014 11:10 AM
Kerr must take a deep breath and look within. He must take the job that produces balance.
When that happens everything else falls into place.

I could care less right now big deal. Seriously its steve kerr who knows if he is good or not

A complete joke, kerr been avaible before they even considered mark jack

The coach with the least experience and the most media connections getting all of the buzz, what a shocker. Just goes to show you how the media has created the sheep herding mentality in this country. Now, all of the owners are lining up to bid on deck chairs on the titanic. Really, Jackson isn't even the last coach who will be fired this year, what's the rush. What ever Kerr chooses, good for him.
