At work and can't watch to see if it's the full conference, but I'd check out the MSG website.

hahahaha....rings talk the loudest. Don't think Melo's lack of playoff success will help him in any conversations that over estimate his value with Phil.
Fisher repeatedly said he believes the Knicks’ roster is underrated. They failed to make the playoffs last season with a 37-45 record.
“I’m not as down on the roster of this team as some people in this room are,’’ Fisher said.
Thanks Fisher man, I thought it was just me..
I want to smack half of those ignorant ESPN fools.. they have the worse NBA panel in all sports
ohh there going to win tonight, by half time, this team never had chance..

Little less headstrong, little more relatable to the players.
Here's hoping Phil does a lot of backseat driving on year 1.
I dont think its too big a roll of the dice. Phil (and everyone else) knows this guy's personality. Its all about being accountable and transparent. Fisher is so very respected by the players, both on court and off. He certainly has a lot of experience
Personality and respect is one side of the coin. One where Fisher shines. But there is going to be risk assumed anytime you bring in a guy with zero experience and give him the big job. Can he do the X's and O's?
Don't get me wrong, I like the signing, and I get it's what Phil wanted - someone a little more maleable to adopt his philosophies - but there are concerns here. The more hands-on Phil is in year 1, the more those concerns are diluted.
Regardless, I'm happy we're finally getting the infrastructure in place before this next build of the roster. On to the assistants.
your right, and I agree. But a head coach can hire some Xs and Os help. Fish can get that from Phil. That will get covered. In game? Yea... there will be some growing pains and a learning curve. One thing though, you cant get leadership help. Most of all we have seen the problems in recent years when the coach doesnt have the full support of the front office. This is no longer about the players. This is about the Knicks, and Phil and Fisher are 100% right in their treatment of Melo's FA. They recognize his importance and the caliber of player he is, but are also cery clear the show will go on if he bolts.
I think we got a good one here fellas. Very excited.
the constant comments about how well spoken he is by announcers/reporters sound borderline racist.
knicks doled out $85 mil for a first time gm and a first time coach. only the knicks.
5 years $25 mil...just more execs trying to prove how smart they are. meanwhile guys really paying dues can't catch a break. i wonder what doc rivers would've said if he constantly pushed for thibs to be a head coach only to not get the opportunity b/c guys like kerr and fisher get the job instead. outside of doc and mark...any other player to coach success stories in the past 20/30 years?

if this were the real world you would be dead spot on. Its not, its the sports world, where paying dues dont follow the same standards.
It has nothing to do with who deserves what. It has to do with what is the best fit. There is no clear cut defined skill set that says this guy is a good exec or coach and this guy isnt. Things are accomplished in different ways, and leadership isnt grown over time. If anything it may be lost over time.
Both Phil and Fisher have proven track records in areas that certainly qualify them for these positions. Surely even you can see that

I'm gonna side with Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher on this over your views. I think we paid what we needed to pay for these men. I agree with their philosophy on BB and what they're doing to rehabilitate this broken franchise. Doubters and haters can go kick rocks!!!
Phil is in this for the long haul and thus he brought in a mental talent that he feels he can develop into a great coach. This is a different approach, but not that untested since we saw Riley develop his young protege in Spoelstra. You have to believe in your judgement if your Phil Jackson or Riley. I think they know a thing or 2 about what it takes to be a Head Coach. That doesn't guarantee success, but I don't think they're leaving a lot up to chance. Phil is there and i'm positive they'll put together a very knowledgeable staff around Fisher.
This is a different world. Rangers tickets were going for $5-10K a piece!

Unfortunately Bryan Colangelo wasn't available.
Blame the Warriors for the 5 year $25mil contract- their ridiculous spending on Kerr set a terrible precedent, that will change how coaches are paid going forward.

Dolan gave Larry brown like 10 million $ to produce a 23 win season, Walsh was a 20 yr exec that made some assine trades trying to clear cap, then pulled up in a wheel chair trying to convince LBJ to play for him..
LBJ goes to pat riley who throw 5 rings on the table and tells him to get wit the program

don't first round appearances count for anything anymore?
Wow the quality of the interviews as Fisher goes from Francesa to Kay is jaw dropping. Francesa may be out of the loop with the NBA but Kay and his buddy come off as clueless & oblivious buffoons UNREAL
Was Dolan at the press conference?
Buffoon Legreca ask him how does it feel to be Phil's 2nd choice
Then Buffoon Kay ask him about his $25mil contract
Stay classy ESPN

No Derek and Dolan have not even spoken yet which shows this is all Phil
