Dirk-Monta-Melo...............

Nice collection of talent but not sure the chemistry.

Melo wants to win, he can join the spurs or heat for the MLE. The we know he wants to win.
Not much of a legacy but he gets to show off some bling.

Dirk is versatile enough to make work and Dallas did put up a decent fight against the Spurs in the playoffs. But that team only has a window of about one to two years. Calderon is running with about 300K on the odometer and dirk is up there.

They can sign Melo outright. This would be bad news for the knicks. No S/T here. but might me good in that it jacks up Melo's value and we can get more from Houston.

It's the least he could do, considering he did it to us for Denver.

There is no better deal than Chicago mid 2014 picks and Boozer(salary comp) for Melo--we will not get a better deal. His contract comes off and we have full cap space in 2015 and 3 first rounders 2 in 2104 and 1 in 2015. Maybe they can take on Ray Felton as well--that would help us.

I don't think we're going to get to pick the deal we like. Either Melo outright signs somewhere or he tells us which team he'd be willing to let us do an S & T with, and then we get whatever we can.

No Phil is in charge he tells everyone what to do.

Not only is melo a low IQ player, he's also a Low IQ person in general. I just can't understand why this guy is hell bent on opting out with no real destinantion.

So Melo has been an elite scorer over the course of his career by being "dumb"? That doesn't make any sense.

I get the criticism of Melo as a ball player , but he always comes across as a genuinely nice, smart guy in interviews- doesn't come across as dumb at all.

an elite scorer? not with 45.5FG% and 54.7TS% he isn't elite. and he has averaged 20 shots per game to average 25 points.

does an elite scorer need 20 shots to score 25 points?

knicks1248 @ 6/16/2014 2:47 PM
He is a nice guy, and does speak intelligent, excellent scorer, but he hardly ever makes the winning play in the clutch, and makes bone headed decision when it comes to his pending FA.

Saying you want to retire a knick
saying you have a black book
saying you want to bring players to play in NY
Saying you willing to take a pay cut to win
saying you more concern with winning a championship.
saying your willing to change your game if phil saw fit.

Then doing something completely against what your saying.

Wouldn't be surprised if the bulls trade for Kevin Love- they can offer a good package (picks, the euro guy and Taj Gibson)

it's called paying lip service. serious question: what's so "nice" about a person who pays lip service all the time?

So I take it that Kobe was just an "elite" defender? Not an "elite" scorer?

If you say "yes" then I can buy that. You require high efficiency to be an elite scorer.

Yeah, I think the bulls exhaust their options with Love before they make a move for Melo.

I don't think so. I think they would rather have Melo but I would probably go for love.

I think Love has to be first choice just based on his age and the fact that he's a little cheaper. One guys is in mid-20s and the other guy will be in his mid 30s by the time his deal is done.

I'd add elite rebounder and passer too.
And elite fortune in terms of teammate quality.
A .555 TS% is reasonably good too but not elite.

bryant was never an elite scorer he was a classic "volume scorer." his footwork for setting up his shots has been superb but his decisions have not been good and it's because his ballhandling was suspect. personally i thought he would have had a better career had he focussed on posting up more.

i guess he was an elite defender but i was never that impressed. great player but overrated nonetheless. the triangle saved him. it helped him be a better sharer of the ball than the "ball hog" epithet would describe. jackson once called him un-coachable and i can certainly see why.
