Knicks · Wojo: Sources: Carmelo leaning towards leaving the Knicks (page 7)

It's hard for guys to succeed playing with Melo. Especially young unproven players

Just wondering who in particular you are referring to. Fields certainly has fallen off the map since leaving ny. There is a lot of hype regarding Lin's 7 game run. Loved it. But if you combined the record of those 7 teams they were 32 games below .500. The Knicks are in a bad place if they lose Melo unless a fabulous sign and trade occurs. Second round picks and undrafted guys that did well with minutes are great but teams need a star.

Anyone we were to draft high. It's hard for a young player with superstar potential to reach superstar level when Melo is busy taking 30 of the shots attempts. With the majority of the plays being drawn up for him and his 45%

This is why Phil is not overvaluing Melo

He wants to build a team

Not a playoff Dolan pocket filler

It ain't that hard come on now!

There is really no proof to your claim but keep your opinion going.

It is my opinion. Everyone has a different opinion

Mine just happens to be right

Right in your head or in reality? Well it should be easy to prove.

yellowboy90 @ 6/15/2014 2:39 AM
Well at least it is being reported that Amar'e will opt in.
93BUICK @ 6/15/2014 3:09 AM
Lin and Asik + a pick for Melo and Felton
I'm feeling Lin koolaid for the first time in a while- as a good Fisher disciple-
the big lin contract is just this coming year right?

Seems to me that Phil has been making statements that show he's probably looking to move on from the Melo Era and build a new team with young players and Free Agents. It's really crazy cuz this team has some vets we won't be looking to keep long term and some young guys we do want to keep and develop. Then you have Melo and JR who are in their prime and win now mode. So imagine PJax looking at this roster and thinking to himself that he has to move assets now and get Picks and Young talent. He got a young coach who is better suited to a rebuild process and so it seems to me logical that PJax wouldn't be going all in on Melo. He either keeps Melo at his price or moves him but he's not gonna be begging Melo to stay if it's gonna mess up the future of the team.

PJax is in a good position really, cuz these teams would prefer to make a deal in order to make their acquisition of Melo more effective and to give Melo a good enough contract to please him. A deal is the only logical end to this situation. We can't be afraid of the 1st real rebuild we've had in forever. My personal view is the picks Chicago has would be more valuable to us.

Anthony met with Knicks officials in Los Angeles on Friday night. The New York Daily News reported Saturday that Anthony's camp is upset with Knicks President Phil Jackson publicly revealing he would like Anthony not to opt out of his contract by June 23 or, if he does, sign a new deal for less money.

Not sure why the media keep running with this line- Melo HIMSELF was the one who told the media that he would take less if it meant a better chance of winning a championship!

I think Phil and Fisher see the writing on the wall and have been speaking as though they suspect he'll leave. But I agree with their stance- if Melo stays and signs for less, good; if Melo leaves and we can get something back to help with the rebuild, good.

And I wonder if Phil has purposely played this up- partly to drive Melo to leave.

If Melo leaves, then he is about the money vs. winning, and if he stays, great.

If he leaves for significantly less he is about the money?

If he leaves for Miami to play with Wade, Bosh & LeBron, he is about winning the easiest way possible!

But, yea - I guess a lot depends on where he ends up.

There's no such thing as easy winning in the NBA. He tried for over 10 years already. It's not like he was a ring chaser his whole career.

The media just stirring things up like always. Nothing substantial at all.

Yup. You're insight into Phil's motivations makes sense, notwithstanding his age. He already alluded to a 5 year plan (not just based on his contract duration) and with the cap space we're getting after next season (Amare, Bargs, Mel, Tyson) we can sign two max guys to join whatever we build next season. THjr stays, everyone else is tradable.

If Melo does leave, I would hope we could do a sign and trade for Noah and picks. Noah would give this team a much needed spine. Noah isn't a superstar but I do believe he would help draw elite players to NY.

They wont be giving up Noah, just can end that dream now.
