As Bargs and Amare opts in...Nice..

Carmelo Anthony has decided to opt out of the final year of his contract with the New York Knicks and become an unrestricted free agent, according to multiple sources.

Anthony has until Monday to officially inform the team of his plans.

Knicks president Phil Jackson said recently that he hoped Anthony would consider opting into the final year of his contract and testing free agency in the summer of 2015. Jackson has privately expressed that hope to Anthony several times since the end of the regular season.

The Chicago Bulls are one of several teams with whom Anthony would consider signing, according to sources.

According to league sources, Anthony has talked to at least one high-profile person who lives in Chicago about what it's like to be famous in the Windy City.

The Bulls also have reportedly done their due diligence on Anthony in recent days. According to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau has reached out to some of Anthony's former coaches to inquire about the seven-time All-Star.

And so it begins... This offseason is really going to be full of exciting changes!!! I'm hoping for a Sign and Trade with Chicago sending picks our way. PLEASE

Now that the good news of carmelo no longer being a knick at this point is official... It sucks that bargs and amare opted in. And you knew those two clowns would opt in for the free money.

I want them gone as well!!!

what I also find funny is how carmelo kept quiet and let denver rape us in this deal... he helped denver gain leverage they should have never had, while we may get completely shafted... The bulls don't need us, they can make a deal with orlando to clear cap space and sign carmelo while acquiring a player like aflalo....

Yet TKF is the villain.... LOL!!!

GoNyGoNyGo @ 6/22/2014 2:54 PM
Carmelo will be the most hated Knick ever if he goes and NY gets nothing for him.

Looking forward to reading your Melo free posts! Must say, if we get some reasonable pieces in a sign and trade, we may come out of this okay.

The Orlando deal actually has them taking on salary, as it is rumoured.

I want Bargs gone, I hate him- personified everything that was wrong with last years team.

Orlando deal? Is that a three way trade with affalo coming to NY?

I don't think so, I =t sounded like Afflalo is a side project/ fall back plan. If they get Melo deal done they can trade for afflalo after or make it a three team trade. A pkg of Dunleavy, their non guaranteeds, and pick gets them Arron. That way if Rose goes down they still have a secondary scorer/ball handler.

Plus Afflalo has played with Melo before- seems a bit suspicious...

Affalo, Melo, Rose, Noah and Taj is a pretty nice line up. Or if Melo is at the four take Taj out and put Butler in. They would be the favorite to beat the Heat coming out of the east in my opinion. I think they are the favorite just by adding Melo.

Nice. Don't let the door hit your rear end on the way.
TheGame @ 6/22/2014 4:02 PM
Since we traded half a team for Melo, it would be bad if he left and we got nothing. That being said, I would not be disappointed in seeing him leave if we got a couple of draft picks and a young prospect in return. THis team needs to be rebuilt from teh ground up. Build around THJ and some of our young bigs, and head to the lottery next year.
TheGame @ 6/22/2014 4:03 PM
I actually think if Amare can stay reasonable healthy, we might have a better record without Melo.

Thats why im rooting for the Bulls to get him. If melo wants big money then the bulls are gonna have to give up soem assets

I disagree and I don't think he can stay healthy. I think his problems will get worse with age/minutes.

I agree but teh good news is taht we will ahve a oppurtunity to have a top draft picks and we will ahve plenty of cap space for the big FA class

actually bargs didn't play that bad, but for all of those that supported that dumb trade, as they will support anything the knicks do.. he wasn't what we needed, he solved none of our problems, none of them..

as for the bulls from what I hear if they are able to pull off this aflalo deal that could actually clear them space, and if that happens they don't need us at all...

nixluva @ 6/22/2014 4:28 PM
Nothing against Melo. I like him but the situation here is not right for him. It's better if he moves on and we go into rebuild mode. If he stays we can't rebuild and he is late in his career for a rebuild so it's just no longer a good fit for him to stay here. A trade is best for all parties involved. It just makes the most sense. He can go to a playoff ready team and we can get to clean house and start with a new core over the next couple of seasons.

I'm extremely curious to see what kind of players Phil drafts and signs. Just going off what he treasures most in players you can get a general idea, but not completely. The only way we'll know for sure is for him to have picks he can use to redo this franchise. If he is able to land a few picks in this draft i'd be ecstatic!!! Trade Tyson for a pick and Melo for maybe a couple...
