Not sure where Melo suddenly gets pushed into being the third man. The Knicks probably are not acquiring that level talent but I don't think they need to.
A team with Melo , and the Gasols is a good team but not a championship team. Even with a group of good role players surrounding them.
No they aren't but its a start.

How much cap space are you going to have left after those 3? Is it a start or is it the end point?

It would stand to reason that obtaining Pau would give us a little better chance of signing Marc in 2015. Personally im a big fan of Marc and his passing ability would be fantastic for the triangle. The only thing is Im doubting Pau comes here unless Melo is on the team.
But if Melo's here and we still have a .450 team, is that really going to look appealing?
But if Melo is here and the Knicks are a .600 team, wouldn't that look appealing? These what of games are fun.
Yeah, I can't see that happening. Regardless, I don't think Melo/Marc is a championship foundation anyway. Now, if they were each coming here for around $15 mil per year, that would be great but I'm expecting both these guys to want $20+ per year
I don't see Marc commanding 20+ mil a year. Knicks are going to be much improved because there PG play and structure(triangle) will be much improved(if Melo returns of course).
They may not be a "championship foundation" but if they compete in the east for a couple of yrs while Phil builds back our assets in a position of strength I would be cool with that.
Question.... could we try and trade for Marc now....maybe Bargs+Wellington+Prigs for Marc(not actul trade of course would be silly) but something like that?

Marc Gasol would have to pull a Kevin Love before Memphis considered trading him.
You chase Pau to get Marc next year.
I wonder if Vucevic will sign an extension this season. I'm not sure but I might like him over Marc.
