Knicks · Broussard, Knicks told Melo he can have the max tonight. Have been telling him that all along (page 1)

Confirms what Windhorst said.

If he re-signs with the #Knicks, I wouldn't be surprised if Carmelo Anthony ends up accepting less than the maximum contract he was offered.

Nice.

i find skip bayless to be 1000x less annoying than chris broussard.

it's like espn only trots this guy out for the idiot offseason b/c he's the biggest idiot on staff

Part of me think this is an image campaign. Phil and Melo have been on the same pg since Phil got here. Phil probably said I want to make you look good since you are willing to take less. Let everyone think you are all about the money but then sign for less because you love being a Knick. The problem with that is you have to really trust what phil/Mills is going to do.

Yes I included Mills because I am not sure who is responsible for the trade.

looks to me like we were playing this cool, but then Dolan got all uncomfortable seeing his boyfriend flirt with other clubs.

Dolan made phil offer the max asap.

hey, this is how things have worked in the past. isn't this exactly true to pattern?

why are we just offering him the max like this? it's such a desperation move. what are we desperate about here?

Broussard said the Max has been there all along. Jax has just been encouraging Melo to take less.

i dunno man... if it "was there all along" ... why was it "offered" just now tonight? ... seriously? wtf is brousard talking about. the offer was there all along, but it was offered tonight?

how does that make any sense.

I wouldn't trust Broussard if he told me water was wet.

Read my mind, only logical explanation IMO. Say they are offering melo the Max so when he takes less he looks good.

There were reports that they offered it when they last spoke to each other Like I said Melo will likely take less and Phil will applaud how unselfish Melo is and he is a team player. The Zen is playing the media and the people who hang on every word.

if that's the case, fine. phil can play me and the media anytime. as long as its phil playin, and not doland.

What people do not understand is that this was a covert attack from Melo to pull Noah back home next year. He told Noah to be careful if ROse doesn't come back healthy and they fire Thibs. Don't you want to come back home bruv( for somereasone he is talking with an British accent? He goes on to say remember me at the trade deadline or the summer after Thins is gone and has pushed you almost into the ground. Come back home. Ewing gave you a basketball as a baby for a reason bruv.

Sure Melo, take the max as we sign and trade you for some nice assets to chicago

Papabear Says

That won't happen. He stays in New York.

Here's Begley's article:

Just don't see how he can turn down the extra year and all the extra money. He'll be back.

I agree. Also, there is a lot to what he said about moving his family. If his son is happy and doesn't want to move and his wife doesn't want to move that sways things a bit. I wonder if Phil makes another move this weekend or somehow a deal for Pau is worked out.
VDesai @ 7/4/2014 1:10 AM
Phil is definitely working the Pau Gasol angle. If we pry away Gasol for the mini-MLE than Phil really is a zen master.
