I guess there was no room for Melo to join Lebron and ride the coat tails!

"the right thing to do"?

Why is that?

so we have more flexibility with the cap. Like i said all along its fine if melo comes back but im more concerned with teh knicks having flexibility to build a long term contender

Doesn't make it the "right" thing to do though. Smart, maybe.

I'm also a little curious if he's taking the max or not though.

So Lebron is a hero for returning to his home town for the max, but Melo is evil and greedy for returning to his home town for the max. Lebron was evil for leaving the Cavs to 'chase a ring' and Melo is evil for not leaving town to 'chase a ring'. Berger did a great article pointing out how players get blasted no matter what they do.

There is one key difference...Lebron is the best player in the world probably the best since jordan. melo is a great scorer but simply isnt on the same level as lebron is. And this is coming from someone who hates lebron and actually likes melo

And I don't have a problem with people criticising his game or saying he's overpaid, but I do think its unfair to blast him for accepting the most money he could and staying in NY- is Channing Frye evil for choosing money and signing with the Magic over the Suns?

For godsakes dude channing frye got 32 million for 4 years. Thats a tad different than 129 million. I mean im not bashing the guy so no need to defend him.

I think if Melo/Bron could have gotten Bosh to the rockets Melo would be going to Miami. A lot of talk about how Melo was supposed to be the other amigo not bosh.

Nice sarcasm Crush. You may think i dont liek the guy but i have said bout 50 times that i would LIKE to have him back but just trim down the money just by a little. It would help Phil build a winner faster and longterm
knicks1248 @ 7/9/2014 6:18 PM
How many players in the league are getting the max?
meloshouldgo @ 7/9/2014 6:28 PM
Oh god. 5 more years of mediocrity signed sealed and delivered.

Probably. I don't like the idea of signing any one player to $129M, including Lebron. But hey, at least we're getting a better player than Joe Johnson or Rashard Lewis for it. Another domino falls, let's build this team, Phil!

Has it been confirmed that Melo is getting the max? Just have to hope that Phil can get creative and Fisher does well. I'm curious as to what the holdup was?

CrushAlot @ 7/9/2014 6:35 PM
Stein just said he thinks Pau follows Melo to NY or LA
