why would he need leverage with the knicks?

i mean he is not in a position to get max money.

huh? its already on the table.

are you sure?

I am not sure about anything, who is.

I hope that I am wrong though since it would make me sad.

I think max is on the table. If Melo is going to take a lesser amount of money why would he do it in NY rather than the Bulls. I would love for him to take less money and stay but that is unrealistic. The only thing keeping us in the conversation with the bulls is money. If we take that away I think it is obvious that the choice is easily to go to the Bulls.

The bulls can only offer about 75 million. If the knicks give him 90-100 then everybody wins.

Is that 75 mil with them trading Taj? or is that without? So many Cap numbers have been thrown around that they are all a blur to me right now.

I think without though they can't really contend without him.

that never stopped melo from getting his money before.

And thats exactly why he won't sign there.

I think it will prove melo just wants the money which most knew anyway

"just wants"??

I think he wants to eat and be healthy and be liked and win and ... all the other stuff that people want

i meant the priority was getting the max or most money. I wasnt saying he wants to starve himself or get cancer

If Melo does not announce for the Knicks today, he is clearly going to Chicago (unless Love trade to CLE falls through, in which case CLE could happen). Reasoning - there is no logical explanation for Melo to _not_ announce for the Knicks anymore, if that is what he wants. The more time goes by, the clearer it is that a S&T w/CHI is in the works - I hope we get Mirotic and pics in the deal.

Im actually getting excited for the possibility of getting some more talented youth in here. Im more excited for players like hardaway larking and early developing more than paying a guy in his 30's 130 million

Lin to the Lakers means Stat to the Sixers is still a play, towards creating space for Pau Gasol.
Seems Mello might be biding his time trying to leverage the Knicks into moving Stat...
NYStateOfMind @ 7/11/2014 5:09 PM
I think the Euro is closer to a Dirk type player than Gallo or Bargs.

Lin's move does keep Philly open to Amare, which can be good. If we can move Bargs too, that opens a move for this year. I think Bargs will do well in the triangle, Amare too.

I don't think we have the pieces for Love, maybe Pau. I like Monroe. So great to have options with Phil at the helm.

newyorknewyork @ 7/11/2014 5:32 PM
Moving Amare wouldn't just create cap space now but would give the team a 25mil trade exception (depending on if we took anything back, and depending on if there is a cap on how much u can get in a trade exception). 25mil trade exception plus the cap space for next yr would be huge. Don't want to give up any draft picks though.

Rockets also will recieve a 14mil trade exception to add more pieces around Howard, Bosh, Harden, Parsons?

They will, but I believe they would need to renounce it to create cap space to sign Bosh. Trade exceptions count against your available cap space.

Ah I see, thanks!!

Agreed to go to the Heat? Sounds desperate for the Heat.

Now I guess the rockets go back to Melo- gives him leverage again if he wants a S&T with the bulls, but he only has 2 days as by then the rockets have to match Parsons offer. Maybe now Miami are finished, a rockets big three seem more appealing to Melo. At this point I'm fed up of him.

Amick (I believe) said the Rockets are still contemplating matching Parsons offer.

Rockets can't afford to come out of this season having failed to land Bosh, Melo, Lebron, Dirk, and given up a first and lost parsons and not signed anyone with the cap space- they have to match Parsons to save face.

It sucks when someone throws 15 mil a year at your restricted free agent.
meloshouldgo @ 7/11/2014 7:08 PM
Did Bosh screw the Rocket's in the process? Would they have traded Lin and the first, if he hadn't told them that he would come over?
dk7th @ 7/11/2014 7:10 PM
weird that bosh is returning to miami. broken down wade, mcroberts, bosh, and super cool beas-- does not instill fear.
