idk what to say about it...if we did that..Our starting line up would be ugly...Calderon, smith, anthony, love, dalenbert...no Defense what so ever..good rebounding though..I hope we keep Stat and Shump
Have no fear. Melo saved the Knicks $1m in salary cap relief. On to the next one as Melo goes back to his black book

Getting Love now would have more to do with next years lineup. When you can pick up a starting Pg. If Smith has the year I think he will have(contract year) he will likely opt out. If he did not show the growth that Phisher needed to see then renounce his rights and clear the space to get what the knicks need.
If that trade would have been completed then you would have seen Dahntay Jones get picked up and probably other D 1st players.

If Flip is really serious about contending, I think any package he's offered has to include a decent PF starter or prospect. We plenty of wings but no decent PFs to offer.

Yeah, If I was Flip I would want an established player younger than 28(that maybe unrealistic) and very young player with star potential plus draft picks, at least one future 1st and some 2nd rd picks.
Now I realize that the teams negotiating with the Wolves can't offer everything on my list so My main preferace would be the young players and draft picks.
If its Cleveland they would have to off Waiters, Wiggins, and draft picks. Bennett is a former 1st rounder that didn't show enough to even be considered a good asset. He is like Thomas Robinson.

Love brings a lot of rebounding and offense. Amare doesn't rebound and is too inconsistent on offense with what he's trying to do. I would do this trade with the quickness. I don't understand what you mean about the staying line up being ugly. And the defense? Amare doesn't defend and if you want a defensive guard Dahntay Jones would probably be signed to fill that role.
This report is loose because the numbers don't match up to make that trade work.
Cleveland should reconsider this trade thing cut Love is injury prone. So is Irving. Everything might still end up falling in LeBron due to injuries.
Minnesota is going to cash in big time. They win no matter what happens.

This report is loose because it is just plain stupid. No way on earth Minny would even consider this offer. Its laughable.

Yeah, the offer is absurd. We'd have to include about 8 first round picks to make it a fair deal.

I don't think the offer is absurd, but clearly not the best they'll receive. It was probably as much as we could offer, at least as a starting point.
Minnesota doesn't have a lot of leverage because whoever trades for him will want him extended. And what happens if he declines on those better trading partners?
I haven't ever heard he would want to come to NYC - so clearly, we're not getting him. But I'm glad Phil tried.

Minny wants to dump Kevin Martin and Barea's salary. add those players and it works
Hollingers analysis is pretty sad on this one
Minny -12 wins
NY + 10 wins

Sad? In what sense? It looks about right.

That's what's so sad about it
Last year numbers. Nobody wins when a superstar is traded before he can opt out.

You guys think too highly of Love, If you put Melo in Loves position, everyone would be saying melo is a career looser and could never take his team to the playoffs despite posting great #s.
Amare's expiring contract means nothing to the Twolves, they can have all the cap space in the world, the only players signing there are draft picks.
The smartest thing they did this off season, not given in to BS trades for love. They really need to bring in establish players when they make trades, instead of always going after young players (al jefferson, wiggins)that will leave the first chance they get.

I will take it as you being sarcastic because otherwise for someone that relies so much on statistics, 8 draft picks for Love is everything but fair ...

Individually and one on one Melo is probably the better player. In a team concept Love is a better fit for teams like Cleveland and Chicago. Phil is trying to establish playing like a team. Once again we are trying to fit a square leg in a round hole. The square peg being Melo
Read that no knick offer was recieved by wolves.
If we did, its the starting basis of a discussion. Maybe thats all it was?
Love is now reported to have said he won't resign with anyone else but cleveland and will play out the year in Minny. This reduces what they can get from Cavs, and could be Wiggins is off the table.
