Knicks · Michael Beasley (page 1)

He's dangling...He comes with risks. He played well in limited opportunities last year. Everyone knows this guy's talent is off the chain. He still has incredible physical gifts.

He had his best statistical season under Kurt Rambis....so he knows the triangle very well.

Rumors say he's available for a minimum deal. If so I say we sign this mofo

knickscity @ 7/27/2014 10:51 AM
Not about the talent, it's the other things he brings.

Last season he actually argued during a game with the coaching staff of a team that has been to the finals 4 straight years over a defensive play he himself missed.

Even with that Miami oprobably would bring him back.

callmened @ 7/27/2014 11:06 AM
I'd sign him and take a chance. I know he's a head case but he's so young and talented
mreinman @ 7/27/2014 11:13 AM
If only we could get josh smith and tyreke to play here with him.

I agree. Interesting combination of youth AND experience (been around for 6 seasons but still only 25), he'd up our talent level and increase frontcourt versatility (size and skill to man either F spot). On a vet min. deal, why not? If he became a problem or underperformed, we waive him. On a vet minimum deal, he's low risk/high reward.

Only thing: supposedly being eyed by several teams -- why would he choose us? Could we guarantee him enough PT? Not sure...Is NYC, the Mecca and the chance to play for a team that has changed the culture hopefully toward being a winner sometime soon enough to sign with us? Surprised Miami didn't jump all over him after Lebron left..

Better option: Mike Scott or Michael Beasley?

CrushAlot @ 7/27/2014 11:24 AM
Also heard that he is working out with Kevin Durant. He seems to be spending time around high character guys. Could be a good fit.
dk7th @ 7/27/2014 11:26 AM
no motor no thanks
callmened @ 7/27/2014 11:27 AM
Mike scott is a solid role player. one can argue that hes a stretch 4 as well. however he wont be cheap. beasley is so cheap because hes a headcase
WaltLongmire @ 7/27/2014 11:35 AM
Phil is not going to take a chance on a guy best known for his isolation offense and poor D.

Woodson might have found a place for him in his ISO heavy offense, but even he would have gotten sick of Beasley's inconsistent D.

We have JR
knicks1248 @ 7/27/2014 12:57 PM
dude as been suspect since he came into the league
Bonn1997 @ 7/27/2014 1:00 PM
If it's a league min contract, it's a no-brainer.

Then why hasnt Miami signed him?

H1AND1 @ 7/27/2014 1:11 PM
For league minimum it's a decent gamble. Simply cut him if he starts getting up to his old tricks.

However, it does not bode well he couldn't even get it together on the Heat. Id say do it but not he shocked or surprised when he gets cut lose for acting like a knucklehead.

Has he said he wants to play there? Anyway, IDK, they offered Bosh 118 mil. Don't ask me to explain what they're doing.

From his agent this past week....

Jared Karnes, Beasley’s agent, said Thursday he has had more than one conversation with the Heat but “nothing has resulted in a deal. [Other] teams have called expressing interest. There has been quite a bit of activity the past four days. Teams are encouraged by his career-best field-goal percentage (49.9) … and his attitude when asked to play a reduced role.”

He played in Miami last season. He was benched for most of the latter part of the season including the playoffs.

Clearly you didn't read my post. Beasley had his best year in the triangle in Minnesota.

earthmansurfer @ 7/27/2014 1:44 PM
Since Kurt Rambis is now our assistant coach, and since he coached Beasley before, if Beasley has hope, Rambis will be on it and he will be here.
My bet is that Kurt didn't like the guy (since we haven't already signed him)...

That could just as easily mean he wants more than what Miami is offering. We don't know what's going on.
